Interchangable parts between 72 and 73?

I know there is some big differences in the two years but I'm comming to the experts!

I have 73 Charger base model and all the parts below are on my 73. My question is will they interchange?

Getting a 72 SE

Can I interchange the front brakes between the two?

Rear window.

Tierod ends

Shocks

Rear brakes

K-Frames  (small block on 73 to the big block on the 72) or can I just change motor mounts. I know I know why change to a smal block on the 72. I don't have a big block engine now. that will have to come later on down the road.

I already have 72 interior parts and I know those dont work for both or the doors.

Anything else I might be missing please let me know.

Thanks,

Charger74

Well, I can definitely without absolute doubt tell that no way can you exchange the k frames.  73 and up k frames are isolated from the chassis.   They will not bolt up.

Brakes, I don't see why not as long as the spindles are the same for the front

Back brakes, no big deal.   Most of the rear ends can be swapped between all years.

Shocks????  Not sure about

Back window, maybe but not sure about.

You can just change to motor mounts to get a big block to bolt up to the 72 without issue.  For 73 and up, you would need to go to Schumachers and get their conversion kit.

Interior, all depends on what you are swapping.  You are correct about upper door and rear uppers.  They usually don't fit.

nothing of the front suspension

nothing of the front frame section

Front Brakes... I think yes like complete assembly.

Rear brakes... yes

Shocks... I'm pretty sure yes, even they could it be not the same lenght they use same attaching

Rear window... only glasses non interchangeable are the quarters.

Interior... plastic parts definitelly yes with sail panel exception. Rear lowers are with arm rest padded on 72, diff than 73 but fit perfect ... upper panels definitelly no

Unibody is basically the same with quarters exception.

T bars Cross member is isolated on 73, and is part of frame on 72s.

Engine mounts, TOTALLY diff. For change SB to BB on 73, the cheaper and fast way is go with Schumacher conversion kit. The "right" and "perfect" way is get a 73-79 B body BB K member. Another changes required on 73 BB change is front Sway bar. Supposelly SB and BB T bars are the same. Another diff stuff between 73 SB and BB is the inner fender passenger side, being with a big cut out covered with a rubber matt.

So I should be able to just pull out the spindles and that would solve my front disc brake problem right? That is remove the top and bottom ball joints and put the whole thing on the 72. I see the whole k-frame is different, the whole front suspension is.

there are several threads about. Supposelly will  affect the ride height since spindle is at diff position but nothing bad, easy to readjust with T bar Bolt.

But whats the problem you are having ? I think spindles for 73 and laters is A LOT EASIER to find than disc brakes setup from earliers

Right. I have brand new rotors, bearings, calipers for a 73. But the 73 is going to the Junk yard. And I see that the rotors for a 72 are almost 3times as expensive. I just want to remove the spindle and put it on the 72.

Top pic what I have now, that is going to the scrap heap.  Bottom is what I will be getting 1972 Charger SE

Oh I thought you were to keep the 73 and use the 72SE parts on it... If is backwards then go ahead... make a quick search about that and will find better info about that.

No need for any K member change on 72s and earliers between BB and SB. just need the right engine mounts

I don't know about doing a search, I've found it quite hard to find any information on this forum using the search. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but I usually just end up asking someone.
