I am restoring a 69 charger that is a 318 car, going to paint it hemi orange, but am looking at the new hemi orange color for an option, does anybody know what the difference is from the old to the new hemi orange that came on the new chargers and challeger.  I would like to see a side by side comparison in the same light, if you find a picture let me know.   thanks DJ

DJ, I own an '08 Hemi Orange Daytona.  This color has the same small gold metal flake as the original HO.   I'd say its real close.  Im no paint expert though....

Best way to tell would probabvly be to compare the 2 formula's to see if they have the same tints & amounts? LEON.

Really it does not matter if there is a difference.  Hemi orange is just a great colour whether it be an 07 or a 69.
No, it ain't a Hemi.....thank God!

The factory names on their paint shades are purely a marketing thing.

They wouldn't hesitate to put that "Hemi Orange" name onto something that looked more like the old Vitamin-C orange, if it suited their purposes this year.

If you want the vintage factory "Hemi Orange" then order the vintage color from your paint guy.

My picture, but still hard to tell.  I stood there with the owner and compared. The new hemi orange appears lighter and with more metalflake.

i wasn't aware, sorry..  :eek2:
mind if i ask the details of how you picked your color?.. what's it based on?.

I picked it based on the fact that the car was already "edged out" in the color.....if I knew then what I know now about going back to my original coded R6 red, the choice would have been easier ;)
