Just Got Into a Car Crash, Airbags Deployed

I just got into a car crash as a passenger. My friend was driving down a country road at a good rate of speed. It was rainy and foggy. Rounding a bend, the front right tire left the road and the rest of the car followed. So at this good rate of speed the car slid into a small tree, totally annihilation it. Then it hit a big tree then a telephone pole. Both air bags deployed in the PT Cruiser and my door was nearly torn off. I was sitting at the rear passenger side. The door just got torn to the rear. Right before we went off the road I grabbed the person to the left of me to try to get toward the middle of the car. Out of the five of us the worst injury was basically a paper cut. The window exploded on me and I have little cuts on my right side and a headache. The car is most likely totaled. The airbags smelled so bad. It really happened so fast but also like slow motion its weird. The only sound I heard was like banging a baseball bat on a tin roof, my ears still hurt a bit. I am thankful that I was wearing my seatbelt. No pictures yet.

Dan, I'm glad your ok.  But Brock's right , you might feel like you got hit by a train in the morning. So take it easy and let us know how you are. And no more riding around with crazy friends or I'm telling your Mom.

Ive been in 8 accidents in 8 years ALL the front passenger of the vehicle! Trust brock! When the adrenaline wears off, the pains starts!

Im starting to feel some soreness now in my hip and wrist. I keep finding more and more little cuts from the glass as I look. My mom was there right after it happened and the paramedics got there in less than 5 minutes. My friend who was driving totally freaked out with sorryness after it happened. He just kept going around telling how sorry he was. I can still smell the airbags and I can't stop it from playing over and over in my head. It took 30 minutes for an ambulance to come when somebody got run over by an empty boat trailer. There are state troopers here in PA because its so rural. He gave the driver two citations, one for operating a vehicle at an unsafe speed or unsafe manner and another for driving off the road. The bad part for him is it was his girlfriends car. The friend who was driving has a 65 mustang vert with an I6.

I can still smell it anytime I remember them going off... it's the damn powder that is put into them so they dont stick to themselves as well as a plastic sort of smelll.... at least thats what the last three smelled like....

Damn Dude... thank God you're ok. All I can say is RELAX, it will take a few days for the soreness to set in so don't do anything strenuous.

I'm just a little sore. The headache is gone but my hip is really sore and my back is a little sore. Time to go on the Waverunner to recover.

thank God your ok, sounds like a pretty gnarly crash. did you go to the hospital? if you back is hurting you might want to get checked out just to be on the safe side. especially if it gets any worse.

Only one person went to the Hospital about an hour after the crash. She just got nervous and had an anxiety attack. Right now all I have is some hip soreness. I just took pictures of the site and they may be up sometime.

The far right side of this one is where the car initially left the road. After the car left the road it went sideways until it hit the stuff that is just barely out of this frame.

The car then slammed into the small tree that you see knocked down here then into the rock, big tree, and telephone pole.

Glad you and everyone else are alive.  I agree with Brian...from now on, don't be afraid to tell someone to slow the F down.  You've got a lot of life to live, so be around to live it.

Hopefully there are no nagging injuries!!  Thank God your ok, the accident could have gone much worse.

Everybody else is fine we all hung out today. I believe I got the worst injuries, my hip is really annoying me my back is slightly too. My friend who wasn't even wearing a seatbelt walked away totally fine. Next time I feel somebody is driving too fast I will definitely speak my mind.

We all only have them on our cell phones and can't figure out a way to upload them. I want to find out where they brought the car so I can take some pics. My door took almost all the damage the front passenger door was just dented.

I crashed my Neon and the airbags deployed.  I had burns on my arm from where the airbag hit as it deployed and had an asthma attack from the dust.  I can still smell the dust when I think about it and that was 13 years ago!  It is liked burnt flesh.......you NEVER forget that smell.
