Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

2much2learn

That site I posted moderated by Chris G will answer your questions.

I would go for the R/T if it were me, if the price were right.

All things being equal I'd go for the R/T, however all things are never equal....depends on so many variables.

2much2learn

ok LET SAY for the sake of saing that ALL THINGS WERE EQUAL, why is the R/T so much prefered over the 500? is it just the emblum? or the stripe? :shruggy:

500 was more upscale than base model. A 383-4bbl 500 is no slouch in performance but the R/T came with all the go-fast stuff

2much2learn

well imma try and swap out my 74 for a solid 70 to rebuild. need something new, alittle tired of third gens. im not gonna shoot for a R/T or even a 500, i dont really care about the vin cause i want a car to drive, not a car to sell. been wantign to try out a second gen for a while. but gotta wait till i get back from this place.......paradese- chargers= topless women and cheap beer  :rotz: (its not the same)

the '70 500 was just one step up from a basic Charger, the R/T was the high performance version it came with all the good stuff from a 440 magnum engine, to a stouter suspension and cooling not to mention the extra trim bits. in between the '70 500 and the R/T there was the Special Edition. package which could be ordered separately.

much more info here..

Actually the SE option was available on both the 500 and R/T models so it really isn't an in-between type of deal.

If you don't have alot of money and just want a basic 70 to drive around I'd say look for a base Charger with an XH29 vin prefix with a 318 engine. You should be able to find a nice one for under $15,000.

i really just want a solid shell (preferably with little to no rust and  lights& grill  still on it) so i can rebuild. how much you think a 70 shell would run me for?

Charger_Fan

Depends on how clean the shell is. $1-2K maybe? :shruggy:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

It will cost you way more to find and buy all the missing parts to build a car from a shell than buying a complete car, unless you have a stockpile of parts stored away or have donor cars.

Because R/T always represented Mopars powerful best.
