trying to get another dodge...

well Ive decided to get me a truck. Looked at a few already, surprised dealers don't want to give good deals at this time with new dodge dealers offering 0% financing. Checked out a 1996 3/4 Dodge with 360 and it just didnt feel like it had much power. Dealer wanted $4000 for it and I said Ill give $1000 and then he calls me up and says he can give me a "special" financing of $230/mo for 33 months  :eek2: Im not sure why he thought Id  fall for that one. Second one I looked at was a 94 cummins and dealer wanted $6200 for it.... 174k miles, long bed std cab. He wanted $4K down CASH  :o I drove truck and it pulled to the right and air bag light was on so I asked if title is clear and if it was in a wreck. He said its clean and "it's probably low tire on one side" ya right. I just left that place as he was chasing me across the lot to my car trying to "deal"
Today I looked at this truck
http://spokane.craigslist.org/car/779518399.html
I like black color, cummins 24v, long bed, quad cab, loaded. Talked to this somewhat lady/dealer and said she'd drop price $1500 with 3K down and I would have to finance it through a credit union since she said she couldnt get me a low rate through her dealership. I dont know what to think. I like the truck and I dont feel like buying brand new one. This truck would last me for the rest of my life as I keep my vehicles maintained and it wont be driven that much, just to tow a trailer and drive it during winter when we get 2-3ft of snow and my daily driver just cant break through all that snow.

Dont buy a dodge truck unless it has a Cummins. All the other engines are gutless. :yesnod:

It's not near you & not exactly the truck you're after, but it's an example of a much better price on a truck with a Buy It Now of $9500.

it might be a decent rruck but its

regular cab,
1/2 vs 3/4
doesnt have all the options ie leather, has cheap looking plastic dash. thats what I dont like the most about interior is that ugly plastic dash
Its hard to buy something that expensive on ebay, I cant afford to fly across U.S. to look at the trucks in person.

Yes. My dad has a powerstorke, my brother has a cummins, and our best friend has a Duramax. The cummins has more power, is more reliable, and is easier to work on. Trust, get Cummins.

not trying to be a shit or anything here, but where im from offering 1/4 the price offered for a vehicle anywhere gets you punched right square in the mouth. maybe youd have better luck trying a reasonable offer?

good luck finding a truck, be patient and the right one will come along.

umm maybe you are confused but you can try to read my post again. I offered 3K down CASH on this 01 cummins and sales lady was happy with that. Only problem is that she said Id have to find a good financing for it cause she can't get good financing for me as a dealer (thats what she said anyways) She said to stay away from Numerica as their rates are higher than most others.
This is supposed to be a buyers market and so I thought Id give it a try. Once economy picks up trucks will go up in value again. Sales lady already dropped $1000 off as I offered her a 3K cash down. And once I looked at carfax and saw it was previously in an accident she dropped another $500. I think Ill try another $500 or we might settle in between somewhere in there.

you clearly state that the dealer wanted $4000 and you said you'd give $1000. thats what we were talking about. unless you meant 1k down? which could have just made it unclear. the capitalized RUSS is probably so you know it was my opinion not his? :shruggy:

Silver R/T

yes 1K down and then he wanted to "special finance" me through numerica, Truck is barely worth $3k if it lasts through winter. After driving it and feeling that weak 360 I changed my mind, Ill go with cummins. Can't beat that turbo power, throw in a $400 chip and have another 120hp on tap.

here's another overpriced pos I looked at the other day. http://spokane.craigslist.org/ctd/784599074.html
Its only 12v, looks much worse in real life, dents, scratches, bald tires (literally slicks) and most of all it has 280+K miles on it, thats a lot even for diesel. It had empty gas tank so I didnt take a chance test driving it.

That is BS, I have had 6 Dodge trucks and towed cars with 318s , 360s and my current HEMI, and all of them towed FINE, and my Hemi will pull a b-body on a trailer (about 6500 lbs all together) without even working hard. That includes some STEEP hills.

Cheap Looking plastic dash?
If you buy ANY Dodge truck built since 94 it's gonna have a plastic dash. They hold up FINE and look fine when they are clean.

My favroite Dodge Rams are the first gens 91-93.

My favroite non-Cummins Dodge truck is the 1978 Midnite Express:

If I ever find a 76-78 Dodge PowerWagon, I am going to clone one. (Even though the midnites werent 4x4, I want one :icon_smile_big:). Maybe drop in a little 4 cyl Cummins from a Grumman bread truck!

thanks for the help! When I get one Ill definitely ask you a few ???'s about some mods. I know I can get them cheaper in southern states/midwest but then delivering one is expensive so I'll be paying pretty much the same price for one.
