If someone could do me a solid......anyone that has those sill/rocker moldings could give me a measurment on the length, I got some in the mail today and they leave a gap in the front about an 1.5" as well as the back, I thought they went the whole length between the wheel openings
Thanks!

yes, they leave that gap... moldings begin on the wheel opening body line above the opening, not just right at the opening molding or opening itsefl. that body line runs in all the wheel opening around, not just on top, just that on lower section is a little bit harder to notice

I have never seen a '71 with the wide style like this

They have always been narrow like this

Yeah, I know, there are six more pics in that post, and all seem to go to the wheel well molding........

I really don't know  :scratchchin: I'll do a little more digging

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.

Nacho-RT74

as far I know, never gets the opening, is just an angle pic ilusion... both ( SEs and standart ) rocker moldinsg gets same point I think, just right at the body line before the opening.

( Note: unless is on that way just since 73, and probably from end to end on 71/72s ?  :shruggy: )

So far, what I found out is that there were two sets. Someone told me one time that somewheres at the end of 70 beginning of 71 Chrysler had about a six week strike. They probably changed vendors to cut cost. Also, how far below the door should they be mounted? I've seen pics right up to the door, and some 2" below.

So should I put on the "shorties"?   :shruggy:  The repos on ebay are also 77"........

Just got off the phone talking with another 3rd gen dude. This isn't written in stone but, this is the conclusion we came up with. Notice that all the 71 500's have the rocker molding going from wheel opening molding to wheel opening molding. 71 500's got that kinda molding. If it was order on any of the other models,71-73, then it was the shorter of the 2 moldings, hence that is why they reproduce those moldings, 77". The ones on the 71 500's are approx. 80" and are of a slightly different design than the 77" inchers. Make Sense? I would put them one as they are/should be correct if your 71 SE was coded for them. The option codes would be the same for both just the moldings would be different for the charger 500 and the rest of the models. That 71 hemi car of  Welborns I saw pics of might of had a set of 70 something or other thrown on them for press coverage. It was a pilot car not intended for the public.

And do you guys know if they are aluminum or "pot metal"?

are they wide like the pics i posted? or skinny like the repros? i don't like to speculate, but i cant imagine three different type of rocker mouldings for chargers in 1971.

that out there, its your car if you think the shorter ones look good by all means put them on.  :icon_smile_wink:

Me, i like the ones that run the whole length  :Twocents:

the car I posted is Paul_G survivor 73 rallye, no repro.

They are 77", and the space between the wheel opening moldings is 81".

The wide ones are aluminum and  the skinnies are stainless.
