Not sure if I should post it here, but this is an SOS.  lol

So tore out the dash as I have not done anything on this car since Smasherofall helped me with the new radiator.  Well you all know how my gauges is not working and twice I have had the white smoke come in the passenger compartment.  Well I have a friend who is a liscensed mechanic specializing in electrical sooooooooooooo he looked at it today.

Without the car on I had a live wire that sparked and blew out a fuse.

How much different is the wiring diagram from a 68 Charger to a 70?  Does anyone have a scanned photo of the wiring diagram for a 70?

For so far if there is not much difference between the 68 and 70, then whoever messed with the wiring (previous owners) had no clue what they were doing!

BUT I do have to say...she does run nicely!  And I have two different paint ideas...right now it is the petty blue, but I am thinking of a darker metallic blue with the black bumble bee strip on the back or a metallic purple with a silver bumble bee strip. What do you all think?

It wouldn't hurt to get a factory service manual for your car. Best investment you can make.
I'm kinda partial to Petty Blue. Ask the members here to post some pics of their 70's so you can get an idea of what you want.

I plan to do that, but he wants to do the wiring tomorrow so I was not sure if anyone here had a scanned diagram from a manual on just the wiring part of a 70.

He is doing this for me for free.  Best price you know?  Just his time is limited and we started looked at it today and then had that happen.

Everyone loves the petty blue it is now, but I want to go different.  And it is a RT clone and I am going to take the side scopes off too eventually.

I have a 70 fsm.  I haven't had good luck trying to scan fsm pages and post them here but I can try for you.  If that doesn't work, I'll compare the 70 diagram to the one in my 69 manual and look for glaring differences.

Cool!  If you do not mind!  I actually did find a wiring diagram, but I cannot get it resized to where it is on a page and you can read the stuff.  So if you really do not mind.  Again I have the book for a 68...(it is smasherofalls actually)....

The biggest difference between 69 and 70 is that the keyswitch is in the dash for 69 and on the steering column for 70.

Generally,  the main problem will be the ammeter circuit.   Read and understand this: http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/amp-gauges.shtml

2nd problem will be the headlight circuit... Read and understand this:

Dark Angel I've looked over the 70 fsm and it is much better for the wiring than the 66 through 69 versions.   It also includes a number of drawings of the wiring harness itself under the dash.   There are are several pages and as I said, I've had trouble trying to post pages from shop manuals here and have them legible.
I'll get them done and pm them to you separately.

Thank you.

Now the jerk who said he was going to help me do this as this is "my speciality" is nowhere to be found.  Keeps bombing out on me.

It looks like I am on my own with the information you all gave me.

Going to roll up the sleeves and dig in.

Should be interesting.  lol
