i need to know if i can use a new 2 field alternator on my 68 charger? if so how do i wire it up?

Nacho-RT74

yes... just need to ground one of the brushes... wire it to chassis or replace the insulator washer with a metalic washer.

if you replace the washer, cut the prong to save from WRONG wire procedure on field wire, because if you wire the grounded brush with the wire coming from regulator, will get a HEAVY short

You could also run a wire from one of the field terminals and ground it to the alternator housing.

ok its charging( 20 at idle according to the guage), but im only getting 13 volts at the battery and when i unhook the negative cable the engine shuts off. could this be a bad ground somewhere? i dont think its the alternator or the voltage regiulator because both are new. and i tested the alternator by jumping the field to the power feed on the stud and it was reading good.
