Ok, first off my girl friend is on the birth control shot that she takes every three months. She has been on it for 2 years now. I was told about the birth control shot can cause some serious hormone inbalance that can cause them to be very irritable and mean all the time. Well everything has been fine until she got this last shot. which was about 2 weeks ago. She just up and out of the blue said she doesn't have feeling's for me any more and this is exactly the same thing that had happend to a few other people that i know of that has taken this shot. Everything she is doing is the same senario the other people went through.  She shafted me last saturday, and that girl had NEVER and I mean never even spoken a mean word about anyone or to anyone even when she disagree's with people and now she is like bitchy and mean all the time argueing with her mom and sister's. Its crazy.

Has anyone heard or have had this same thing happen to them when their girlfriend or wife has used this shot..

Weird that this hasn't affected her sooner if shes taken the shot , what 8 times already ?

MAybe she's serious about not having feelings for you.  Better to abandon ship now , if she's serious, than cause yourself more future heartache.
You can't make someone love you....

If you really think it's the shot, tell her your concerns, then insist on using condoms from now on.  Sometimes reason cannot fight with medicine, the reason is coming from outside her [ you], while the "medicine feelings " are coming from within.
If she's not willing to compromize on the birth control, how can you expect her to compromize on other future issues ?

I too had a girl way back when who was on the shot! She got REALLY bitchy but lucky for me it also made her gain weight so she stopped it herself. A year later she broke up with me by trying to strangle me as I lay sleeping on the couch wrapped in a blanket....  :slap:

I mean this girl is one of those that are quiet and never says much to anyone, and it sucks so bad that she totally flipped upside down kinda has me down about it but I figured maybe I should just give her some space and let her stew on it for awhile.

Do they have anything that can deactivate that shot? Im sorry I am asking these questions here its just I don't have alot of people to talk to about this situation, so i figured i would talk about it here.

Another fine product from the wonderful pharmaceutical folks. ::)

Then again, maybe that effect is the designed outcome of this particular birth control method. :shruggy: I mean maybe it makes them so bitchy and fat no one wants to touch them.

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.

Mood changes are one of the side effects of the Depo shot.

People don't think much of the side-effect warnings until one or more of them actually occur. We're friends with a married couple who have three kids and the wife had a stroke and almost died from birth control medication (pills I think). Her personality changed after the stroke, which is not uncommon. I always listen for the side effects when they show those perscription commercials on TV. Some of them sound worse than the problem you're trying to fix.

I studied them all when my girlfriend was on it just incase so I relooked them up and this is a new one!

QuoteStudies released in 2004 show that Depo Provera is associated with a loss of bone density resulting in an increased risk of osteoporosis. The bone loss appears not to be reversed when the woman goes off Depo Provera. Depo is not recommended for long term use and especially not recommended when the young woman is still growing her bones. Women on Depo are advised to exercise and take in plenty of calcium. If you have taken Depo Provera for more than two years, you might want to get a bone density test.

Now besides that one:

Quote70% of women using Depo Provera gain weight. Almost half of the women using Depo Provera gain more than 5 pounds after one year of use. Many women gain more than 10 pounds.

Irregular, heavy, or no bleeding are common side effects of Depo Provera. After a year of use, many women stop having periods. Lack of a period becomes increasingly common with longer use.

Other side effects of Depo Provera can include headaches, nervousness, mood changes, bloating, hot flashes, decreased interest in sex, breast tenderness, acne, hair loss, and back ache.

After the last shot of Depo Provera, it can take over 6 months for the drug to leave the body. Side effects may linger until the drug is completely gone.

Those are some NASTY side effects, especially bone density!

The sky is the limit when it comes to side-effects from hormone manipulation.

This is the same stuff that made us all get so horny back in junior high.  And it's the same stuff that recently inflated Barry Bonds' head.  Don't doubt the power of hormonal manipulation for a second.

I hear ya. You take a medication to get it up but then the wrong head is throbing, cramps, runny nose and a fever then your suppose to have sex? Then if it don't go back down within 3 hours go to the hospital

There's a product called Olestra, which is a very strange thing. Olestra? What is that? It's said on the side: "May cause anal leakage." That's not a side effect, if my ass is going... (*pours water on the floor*) I'd say that's an effect, really! "Fire in the hole!" Bad day!

"How you're doing, Bob?"

"Just a little anal leakage, Ted."

"Bob, you wanna get out of the pool right now?"

Maybe she's pissed that you spent money on another car versus a ring for her left hand.  :shruggy:

Does her perceived bitchiness coincide with after the purchase of the car.  That car's purchase price would have bought her a nice rock.  :slap:

Sounds like a good way to prevent a pregnancy to me. :shruggy: Weight gain, decreased interest in sex, headaches, mood changes, breast tenderness, hair loss, etc.

Sounds like it's a combination of having cancer and being in a car crash.

Absolutely...  There is major warnings about it. Some say it has caused suicides.  If you are still in touch with her, you might suggest a trip to her doctor.. Depression was one of the biggies they talked about on this subject..

Good luck bro..
