Hood won't release...

I went out to the garage this morning to find that I had a dead battery. No worries I think, I have a spare. But I can't get the hood open to change it. I've tried the key in all of the ignition positions, taken the key out & checked to make sure that I'm in park. There is plenty of tension in the handle and so I think the actual cable is OK. It *feels* more like it's locked than broken and the actual operation of the handle is as it was. So could I be doing anything dorky here? I've had no problems opening or closing the hood before and can't see why a flat battery would have any impact. I do remember having this problem before but it was easily sorted when I wiggled the key to a different position. Thanks folks

unless you have some strange custom setup the key position has no effect on the hood release. IIRC you have hidden H/L so you can't pull out the grille and release it manually (i have had to do this before). try having someone push down or pull up on the hood while you pull the release. if that doesn't work i don't know. its just sticking somwhere  :shruggy:
