Raised garage doors - before & after pics

The garage door guy came today and raised my doors so I can fit a 4-post lift in the garage.  The ceiling is 11'4".  The door track only comes down about 6" from the ceiling now - so it should give me enough room to stack two Chargers.  The only fly in the ointment is the door at the back of the garage.  I thought he could run the track straight up the wall like the front door, but there is no opener on that door and it has a locking handle on the outside.  So, he had to slant the track in a little so the handle would clear the door opening on the outside.  That in turn will cut the length down a bit for the Charger that will be stacked on top.  I didn't have a whole lot of length room to start with and this will make it even tighter.  If it won't clear, I will have to install a lift on the back door.  I put a wall mount LiftMaster opener on the front door.  It turns the spring jack and has some nice features.  It's just a little more than the overhead openers.  If anyone is going to replace or install a garage door opener, I would highly recommend a wall mount LiftMaster.

Sounds like you've got it worked out now.  :2thumbs:
Thankfully, someone mentioned that when I was building my first building and I had them mount the tracks up higher. Saved me a lot of money I'm sure.

could you change the handle to a more flush mounted style?  :scratchchin:

I got the same wall mount opener in preparation for the lift.  Nice and quiet along with the automatic lock feature makes it a good choice.  Now I just have to get the lift!!! Did you make a decision on what brand your getting yet?   Bob

Bob,
So far I have narrowed it down to between the BackYard Buddy and the Rotary Revolution.  Most of the others are made offshore and I don't want to risk the quality.  Need to take some time and run some comparisons between the two - both are expensive, though.

Talked to the installer after he did it.  I suggested he should have talked to me before hand.  As far as I know, there are no outside handles that would run flush.  Because there is no opener, you need a locking handle to lock the door.  To get it to run flush - straight up, I would have to put an opener on it.  He indicated if it didn't work, he would rework the track and charge just the cost of the opener.
