Man that just makes me sick.

The auction car, V0A171586 was a Tor-Red, black bucket car.  It was a 6-pack, 4-speed converted to auto at some point.    About 60k miles.  Came out of Missouri in the 80's.

Wow wonder what it will actually bring.

That car is history, but with the VIN tag still there, someone will buy it to switch it to another car.   ::)

The heat must have been incredible to warp & sag the entire body like that. Look at the pic below & you'll notice the top of the door even has a sag in it. Amazingly though, the nose cone looks better than the rest of the car. It's probably warped & buckled, but it would be interesting to put it on a car to see how bad it is.

You meant to say that it would be a good project for your son, who would be a FATHER before the project was completed right?

well i have seen many birds for sale and not selling in the 85-100k  range. Daytona of similar quality are at least 150 and not as many out there for sale of course. So yes they for the most part are in this market selling for 150 to 200 k for a good solid car !   now hemi and 4 speed cars are alway higher. Six pac bird have even been in the 85k range met a guy in duluth meet who just bought one in indiana for that

I remember even back in the 80's that a Good Daytona was always higher priced than even a 6 pac Bird, due to the lower number of them being produced.

I would put it roughly at 1.5 x   judging by pricing over the last 20+ years - assuming same condition and trans. Hemi's - 1.4 - 2x

That is weird to see so many birds having been toasted. I wonder how far apart in the years that they got burnt up. I guess from a insurance standpoint they are worth more dead than alive in this market.  :rotz:

69charger2002

well i went and looked at the car today. what a sad sad sight.. the car is completely unbuildable. it will be rebodied by whoever buys it without a doubt. i honestly think if the wooden pallet, was removed, the car may collapse in half. it got ridiculously hot. the nose has ripples and dents in it, the carbs were melted onto the intake(edelbrock by the way). the gentleman with the car was very nice and a genuine car guy, and he's already getting some pretty good offers on the car. by the way the car didn't actually sell for $17000 at the auction, the winning buyer defaulted and the guy that owns it now got it directly from the insurance auction some time later, so it has not "changed hands" since the insurance auction, though the guy has only owned it for about 8 months. RIP superbird!
