I got on Carlisle a nice used Hughes valve springs number 1106... seller told just 4K miles on them and paid just $40.

All what I had/have were/are the stock HP Valves 2658204 ( single with dampener ) but NOS to fit with the MP Cam.

what do you think of the hughes ones to fit with MP camshaft 280/.474 ?

Natcho, those will work fine with the MP 280/470 cam.  :2thumbs:

I would have the spring pressures tested before installing them though...make sure that they're still in descent shape.  :Twocents:

well, checked the pressure at 1.880" as specs at website, and got 120 lbs ( well, scale was on PSI, but still 120 ), and not 150 like website states

or I was cheated at Carlisle by the seller and spring is not the 1106, or they were ABUSED on "just 4K miles"

anyway they are better than the NOS HP I found, with barelly 100 lbs ( psi ), so will have to use them anyway untill get new ones, but will have to wait to next year and get it with an adjustable valvetrain. They won't be abused because I don't think to race my car.

Just tested one of them though

Natcho ; 120 lbs is fine for most hydraulic cam profiles.  ;)

Natcho,

If the cam you want to use needs more seat pressure there's allways the option of shimming up the springs to increase static seat pressure.  :yesnod:

With a coilbind spec of .680 you have lots of room to play with.  :2thumbs:

YES I thought on that, but Mopar Cams doesn't carry any specs about that

( remember I'm on the not to much loved by you 280/474 :smilielol:)

This project has taken me LOT OF TIME because I'm allways fightting with another problem... now with brakes, also LCA bushing replacement and noise from the differential even everything is new ( when is not a personal deal ) . Being my driver is not easy. And haven't a place to make everything is a little bit hard.

I should have built this at the end of LAST YEAR!!!  :brickwall:

I'M

AN

IDIOT!!!!

never thought on the VALVE SPRING RETAINERS!!!!

I though I could use the stock ones :brickwall:

(  ignorance being a first timer on this )

which ones I will need ? ( better if adds some installed pressure, like shimming )

thinkin on use same stock valves and locks

I have a friend who works and import some performance stuff, but he is mainly a chevy guy, SO IF THE RETAINERS are the same than some chevy piece maybe he could have it in stock.

IDIOT, IDIOT, IDIOT :brickwall:

NO! That I ordered new springs to go with my cam/lifter set and then had to turn around and wait for new retainers to put the heads together!  :smilielol:
