Hi, so I was puting on my new vinyl top today and all was going well untill I got to the second side rear sail panel. The vinyl laid down in the wrong spot so I gently pulled it up to reposition it and when I got it back down and got the wrinkles out of it I thought it was fine. Then I started to rub my hand over it and there were little lumps everywhare on the sail panel. I think it is needless to say that this top is now junk and needs to be replaced. Any idea why this happend? I was using the 3m glue that everyone was suggesting to use.

     Thanks alot.

sounds like  when you lifted the vinyl up again  the glue on the roof came with it, when you re positioned it  left little bumps ....  these can be pressed flat ..before the glue dries .....

Ryan..bad news those are glue bumps and the only way to fix it right it to remove the  top, sand all the dried glue off the metal and perhaps the vynal (or get a new top) and try again. I did my '70 and it came out perfect! I did my '72 and it kicked my butt! I had all the glass out of the '70 when I did it, I think that helps.

Only offer is clamp, test, clamp, test and when 100% sure of position apply glue and lay it down

Good luck!

Lucky side is at least it wasnt a gator grain top
Try instaling it a section at a time dont paint the whole roof with glue all at once, that way the glue wont have time to over dry.
good luck next time round
