Are there anybody that on there 69s are not using tailpipes? I really dont like the look of the long pipes running along side of the gas tank and Im thinking about just running a x pipe and then having the mufflers dump off right before the rear end. Are any of you guys running yours like this and if so do you have any pics and what mufflers are you using. Thanks for any info

I wouldn't do that just my  :Twocents: Becuase then you wind up with a black sooty buildup under your car if it runs a bit rich. Also when your car is running it makes moisture/condensation which will be hung up under your car and it can cause it to rust. I think the tail pipes coming out of the rear make it lok cool  ;)

i have used sidepipes (they used to be "cool" some yearsago, don't know about now) and liked it, just had to remind passengers to not hit them with their legs...and exhaust dumps ahead of rear wheels was stock feature on trans am challengers, but exhaust actually was directed out sideways, not just dumped straight down- a straight down setup would be a mess anytime the car was running and not rolling.

dumping the exhaust under the car will also make it loud inside the car. it will also fume you out when you sit idleing.IMO i would not do it because of the noise.   :D

Lots of guys dump them at the axle but as has been stated above....noisy   and noxious.  :faint:

The last thing you need is a headache and CO poisoning while enjoying your ride. If you don't like the tailpipes at least run something out the side... just in front of the rear wheels.  :Twocents:

Just repeating what has already been said really, but I had a car once that dumped in front of the axles and I will never do it again.  Loud fumes are the worst.
