Question about 1st gen seat mounting brackets

I have a couple of questions about the seat mounting brackets, not the adjuster but the actual bracket with the studs which go through the floor.
1st.  From the end, the bracket of course has an "L" shape, how are the situated?  Would it be with the vertical portion to the outside, inside, both brackets the same or each facing differently?
2nd.  From the side, one bracket has a longer slope to the forward edge than the other, does this one go to the outside or inside?
