just wanted to ask for everybodies prayers and such, if you are willing to give them of course.

This morning while running a 2 mile run test for the National Guard, my finacee chris, blacked out, hit his head and lost consiousness for about 2-3 minutes. He was taken to the ER, treated and released, however, this afternoon, he became really nauseus and dizzy, so we went to his doctor, who sent us to the hospital, i just got back from taking him into the hospital, they said he has a severe concussion and will be in the hospital for at least 3 days, tommorrow, they will run CT scans to see if the swelling on his brain goes down any. He also may have re-torn his ACL in his knee, meaning a surgery.  I know how much these sites and you guys mean to him, so im posting on every forum he vists, im sure when he sees the support you guys give him, itll help cheer him up and help him through this.

thanks Erin

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Tigger

Hope you have a fast and 100% complete recovery. :2thumbs:

Having torn an ACL, and had several concussions myself I can feel his pain. Hope all is well with him, and a fast recovery. If you guys need anything feel free to hit me up, I am not that far of a drive away (south side of Indy). And is he still in the Guard, or just about to start training? My uncle is a Colonel down there in the Guard.

mikepmcs

Sounds like he is in cause that is their PT test distance(2 miles).  I was in bed with the guard in Bangor as we shared the same building.  The problem is the speed they have to run that 2 miles in.  I ran over 6 miles a day(and no i haven't run a mile since retiring) just to keep in shape but my times could not compete with the ANG.  I couldn't believe how fast they had them treads going just to get to the time mark. For example, our 6 month test was 1.5 miles and I had all kinds of time at my age but they would have to run that 2 miles in about the same time frame :o  Absolutely ridiculous but definitely handy in the war zone.  That's why the Nav stays on ships and in the air I guess.

LORD we pray for Chris right now - that his swelling in his head will be gone in JESUS name - that he will have a complete recovery.

dukeboy_318

i told him that i had put this up, he thanks you guys and wanted me to keep it updated, after 2 CT scans this morning, he has been told he hasa stage 4 concussion, guess stage 5 in coma land, he will be in the hospital through saturday, and at which he will have more CT scans done before they will release him, the swelling must go down at 70%, they are also waiting on results from xrays to see if he cracked some vertabrae in his neck and shoulder region.  His vision has returned, almost to normal, some blurryness and his eyes are bloodshot.  He does have full control ovf his body, which the doctor said is a good sign.

dukeboy_318

they arent sure what caused it just yet, they think that he may have slipped on the wet surface of the track and hit his head that way, based on eye witness accounts.  and yes it was during a test.

Hope he gets better soon.

Head injuries are always scary.  Bodies can be repaired or even propped up with mechanics sometimes, but a mind can't be replaced.

I'm glad you feel that way.  Not the experience I had at all.

Prayers & thoughts for Chris.  It's always nice to know your 'net friends got your back.  I hope there's no lingering effects and he pulls through this like nothing happened.  :2thumbs:

Awful nice of you to let everyone know Erin.

Thanks for letting us know.

its nothing really, just figured the more support he has the better, i figure since he spends almost the same amount of time on here that he does with me i might as well let you guys know. im trying to kep this updated everyday for you guys too.  Its been a real rough spring and summer, i dont know how he deals with it, just about everything has happened to us, got hit by tornadoes on may 29th and jun 3rd ,a 100 yr flood on jun 7-10th, truck problems, and now this thing.  anyway, hes still the same, Cat. 4 concussion, nothing has really changed much, they are going to hold him till at least Sunday/Monday now. Hes having trouble keeping food and liquids down so they are watching him for dehydration. All ive got for now, thanks Erin

the latest, it has been confirmed that he has an ACL tear and will require surgery and will be off his feet for about a week, then off work for at least 3 weeks, full recovery is 6-8 months.  his concsussion is finally starting to go down, hes still dizzy but he finally started keeping his liquids and food down, hes been downgraded to a stage 3 concussion. so its getting better, not out of the woods yet though. thanks erin

Thanks for all of your prayers, doctors have down graded it to a stage 2 and he gets to come home tommorrow instead of Sunday!! He had an MRI this morning to confirm the ACL tear and we are waiting for those results but the doctors are 95% sure its torn just judging from the way his knee moves and the swelling and constant pain that hes in. Im going to make him get on here and thank you guys, though im sure it wont take much proding. thanks again for your prayers, also thanks to the members that sent out get well cards, i got them in the mail today and took them into him, he loved them and said he'll get better. Thanks Erin.

First all, thanks to all of you guys, i didnt think id have this type of support from you all. I did get out saturday, ive still got a slight headache and of course a torn ACL and another ligament (dont know how to spell it lol  :smilielol:) in my right knee, but im better off then i was, though im not allowed to drive for safety reasons  :brickwall: (cant push down on the brake pedal without hurting my knee or it giving out). . Anyway, im going to have surgery pretty soon it sounds like so i may not be around much, ill try to stay in touch as much as possible. Doc said id be in the recovery room for anywhere from 3days to a week depending on how well it does. then off work for 4-6 weeks, physical therapy starting immediately and then back to biking in 6 months, running 100 percent in a year. Again thanks guys and gals and ill be seeing you around. I did get the cards a few of you sent, thank you very much, that really was something  :2thumbs:

Hey Erin sounds like now you have two restorations to put up with.(just kidding). Hope everything can and will return to normal for the both of you. :2thumbs:

dukeboy_318

no, she only has to put up with my restoration, i sould my chargers a few weeks ago, didnt have the time to work on them with school and the military taking 90 percent of my time. anyway, the guy i have operating on my knee works for the Indianapolis Colts and just done peyton Mannings surgery, i think im in good hands.  :popcrn:
