In the local news, (sort of) they crowned the winner of the 2008 Ms. Monticello Raceway Beauty Pageant. And the winner is.......

http://www.harnesslink.com/www/Article.cgi?ID=65822

Courtney Blauvelt, 20, (center) of Napanoch, NY was crowned Ms Monticello Raceway 2008 on July 27. First runner up was Tyler Kilcoin, 19, (left) of Middletown, NY and second runner-up Christina Richichi, 20, (right) is from Newburgh, NY.

Nice to have it on your resume, if you're a pageant type, that you're a runner-up instead of saying place or show.

Not because she's from Newburgh, but I'd have picked the 3rd place gal first, myself.    :D

And what's up w/ the one on the left?  She looks like one of the Geico cavemen.  That she came out ahead of the one on the right tells me that the talent portion accounted for a major part of this pageant.

It is Sullivan County afterall.

I'm thinking about scanning some of the Sunday fliers & posting some of the ads. You should see the JC Penny women's clothing ads from the other day.   :D

Interesting...
I've spent some time there at Monticello Raceway my uncle worked there at the $2.oo window for many years, he died of lung cancer some time ago, but when i was in my teens and visiting my dad's sister there in Monticello i spent many an afternoon there at the Trotters, they had a really sweet Disco there, the place was covered in TV sets and the camaras were focused on the dancers, only occasionally showing the the trotters during their races,.. watching yourself dance on TV was at the time a novel naricisstic experience.
They also had awesome free concerts there, I remember seeing the Fifth Dimension and 38 Special there, they were obviously tying to attract a younger crowd, as most younger folk flee the area just as soon as they are able.
My last visit there was in 1998 and the ancient Buffet place down the road was packed with blue hairs it was the social event of the season!  :P

My aunt's huge five bedroom home was put up for sale for a ridiculously low amount of money after she died, That area is in a severe decline -particularly since the Jewish resorts in the area have fallen from favor in the past few decades, As I recall Grossinger's was the one where my Aunt worked in a clothing shop for many years.
Anyhow seeing/reading Monticello, dreged up those 33 year old memories...
Thanks Bob.  :2thumbs:
BTW:
Anytime anyone gets pics of beauty queens please feel free to post up.
I love this poster, especially the Splash Graphics...

here's the winners of the Miss Monticello Raceway circa 2000...

another, there are several beauty contest winner pics under Google Monticello raceway searck FYI:

You might be interested Dave, but the area near the track has been a hot spot for real estate & major developments over the last 7 or 8 years. The company I work for is very busy doing sitework up there, & there is more work on the horizon. Gambling casinos are coming, thanks to the Indian tribes, & there is a brand new, private automobile race club that just opened. We built it for the owner who is now tearing down the Concord hotel & building the equivalent of a new small town in it's place.  :o

No, I haven't spotted any women in car trunks, but I did see a woman leaning on a tree trunk, & a recent photo of Madonna who looks like she was hit with one.

THOSE are the winners? Wonder what the losers look like.

Not that they're ugly, but theyre no beauty pageant material. I've seen cuter waitresses at the Dennys on Sunset and Gower...

I think most of them probably work at the local Denny's in Monticello.

Yes, I'm in Newburgh, but the bridge isn't. The bridge is nearby over the Hudson River.    :D

Crossed that bridge 20 times or more back in the trucking days.

Used to buy fuel near Port Jarvis, on the south side of I-84 at a station that amazingly had a New Jersey address.  Cheapest fuel around at the time.  The view at the top of the mountain just east of there is one of the best in the United States, IMO.

Send a truck about once a month to a grocery warehouse in Montgomery, NY near you.

The world is small.

I know exactly where that area is near Port Jervis. Three states practically meet right at that exit, New York, New Jersey, & Pennsylvania, so the gas station probably does have a NJ address.

I have carnal knowledge of a young lady from Port Jervis.  Nice Italian girl with breasts the size of canteloupes and a body built for pleasure...but a face that could make a pit bull climb a plate glass window.

Funny you bring that up. I knew a girl from Walden, NY who worked in Middletown, NY with big breasts. She wanted to go out one time so we drove to Port Jervis. (Her idea) Her face was nice, but it turned out she wasn't wrapped too tight & definitely too screwed up for me to want to see her again.
