Boy Racer

Well, along with Dad's car, we brought home about 40 slide carousels of pictures that Dad had taken from 1970-1990 or so. We watched the first one tonight, and apparently while working in Tampa for a few months*, Dad ventured up to Daytona to watch the 500. His seats were (from the pictures) about 15 rows up right where pit lane rejoined the race track near the end of the tri-oval. Several pics of the start of the race where the cars are all lead out by the pace car. There are several shots of high-winged MOPARs including the #42.

Does anyone know of a device into which slides can be inserted and scanned onto a computer? I'd love to post up the shots. I'm sure we can find shots of the car in its younger years. I'd like to post them up as I find them.

*He was a civil engineer, and was sent by his firm at the time, J.E. Greiner (sp.?) to Tampa for about 6-8 months, as they got the contract to do the civil work for some of the attractions down there. Lots of pictures from some aquarium and lots more from Busch Gardens. I'll ask Mom what the deal was and post up more info as I learn about it.

I would start by going to a shop that specializes in selling only camera equipment. They might have ideas on how to convert your slides into pics. Then you can catalog them for showing people from a picture book and you can scan them into your computer to be sent to us specifically. Just us, no one else. We are special.

Epson makes scanners that can scan slides and film negatives and anything else you may want to scan.

I found two scanners that seem to work for you, one is about $70 but not worth it and the other one is about $180 and everybody loves it.

I believe most photo developing places can make prints and/or put them on a CD for you.

I also found what appears to be pictures (not as good) of the '70 or '71 South Eastern 500 (Bristol) and '70 or '71 Dover race. I just need to stop buying pistols long enough to save up some cash for the slide scanner!  ;D (We just bought SWMBO a Walther PPK/S today.)
