That truck getting on the hwy is loaded full of crushed cars .
:drool5: I did my part to recycle this week and support my family !
We deal mostly in 95 and newer late model cars so no classic stuff crushed here.

We dont have to own our own crusher they came to our site, crush em and haul it way.  They even clean up after them selfs .

Sorry they crushed most of the cars monday and i didnt get out here till tueday morning as they were finishing and cleaning up. So only a few picture but hopefully you get the idea .
We generally crush once every 6-9 months .  We have been locked in at $230 a ton for 3 month and they just now freed up a crusher to come out .
Last picture are them loading the crusher up to hit the next salvage yard !

I imagine the crusher dudes come across classics they don't want to crush on occasion.  :shruggy:

We used to do work for the local steel recycling yard and I remember them saying GM would bring obsolete parts from the local warehouse and would stay on site until the stuff was shredded.

I use to run a 1978 MAC  crusher myself for about five years. We crushed a lot of cars!!! Mostly a bunch of four door boats, station wagons, pick up trucks, vans and my favorite was turning a rice burner into six inch filler   :hah:  inbetween two chebbys.   :yesnod: It is amazing the force and power that one of these car crushers have.  Although we did crush a few mopars here and there but they were always a totally rusted out shell completely stripped of anything useable. Sorry, I do not have any cool pics, I ran this crusher back in the late 80's and early 90's.

Great photos!

I grew up around a salvage yard and I recall my Father asking the operator to let me have the controls for 30 minutes or so back when I was about 10 years old.

I thought the best part of the operation was when the fork lift operator would chain engine to the forks for quick removal before the vehicle went into the crusher.  Some of those old cars had some pretty strong motor mounts and when they did let go the engine would come out bouncing and swinging on the chain dangling from the the forks.

I like this shot. The truck quietly sitting in it's pasture.

That's a '68 'Stang, by the way. ;)

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I thought a 68 would have marker light ?

Correct.

If it has fake louvers in the rear quarter panel scoop area, it's a 67.    No louvers = 68.

I would take that stang in a heartbeat if I was closer.

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.

I have a 1968 302 J Code drivetrain sitting in my garage from a 1968 Ford Mustang Coupe J Code project that I picked up years ago. They only made the J Code one year 1968. It is the same as the regular 302 but the heads had a closed chamber head with smaller CCs than the 289 head - 52-53 CC combustion chambers! The frame and body were so rusty that I could do nothing with them. The only things I have left from the hunk is the drivetrain, the buck tag and VIN TAG, the title and the Marti Report. If you do not have any takers, I live in Springfield, Illinois and will be Lake of The Ozarks, Missouri this weekend to take a look if you have time. I have a few 289s, 302s and 351s and a crap load of 67 68 Mustang parts laying around that I could drop in that beast.

I will PM you my information.

moparstuart
