Just following the directions that Legendary provided with the new seat foam for my interior and part of the process is to glue strips of cloth near the outer edges of the foam.  Just as a matter of curiousity, is the cloth to reduce wear on the foam at the edges or is it to facilitate installing the covers?
Kind of a dumb question I realize but it was puzzling me as I sat here gluing them on late at night.

well if it is anything like my  second generation  seats ....  it is just to hold the foam to the seat frame ......

2 different reasons for; 1) to help keep the frame from chewing up the foam. 2) to hog ring to the frame to hold it in place.

This stuff is going around the upper edges of the buns and not near the seat frame.  I'm not talking about the cloth that is already sewn to the seat covers, these are separate strips that are glued to the foam.

I have never heard of that, unless it is to keep the foam from spreading out and collapsing.

That's why I was wondering if it was just to make it easier to slip the seat covers on.  You know, to keep the edges from bunching up on the foam as you roll the vinyl over them?
