I just tried a new rust removal product and it worked very well. http://www.evaporust.com/ It claims to not irritate eyes or skin. Check out this link about a 69 Road Runner http://www.evaporust.com/chassis.html
I soaked a rusty hood pop-up spring and it looks like new. My question is, what do you guys use to keep raw metal from rusting? Do you spray it with a clear paint? Or?

good quality epoxy primer will be fine. You need to make sure all of that crap is off the metal though. Best thing is to sandblast small parts like these.
