luv those sixpaks...you might want tokeep the hoses that connect the outer secondary diaphragms to the inner carb as short as smoothly possible, and you might want to look into the holey track pack of various color coded springs for inside the diaphragms..when i used to race this setup, they made a difference...

so the outer carbs vac hoses  connect to the center carb for vac source?

is it me or does this pic. show the center carb vaccum hose going to full manifold vaccum?
when i ran theese i would hook my outboard vaccum hose to the center carb port that was above the throttle blades.
this picture looks like it only has one port, which looks like the dist. adv. is hooked to.
a stock set up has two ports on the metering block, one curved slightly, and one straight.
i would hook the dist. to the straight one,and the outboard carb hoses to the curved one.
hope this helps

That is a picture of mine. The vacuum hose from the distributor goes to the port on the upper part of the center carb and the vacuum hose off the tee goes to a port on the center carb base (hard to see in picture). This is how it is shown as correct in the service manual.

on a stock set up there should be two UPPER ports on the center carb.
dist. hose goes to the port that is on the metering block, and the carb hose goes on the port next to it(on the carb.).
if you hook the carb vaccum hose to the base plate,it will be manifold vaccum, and incorect.
it needs to be above the throttle blades to get the proper signal. :yesnod:

thanks. ya, thats what made sense to me. hope this thing works. carbs are old. not new ones.  put in the napa kits. if i had to do it over again, i would have gone with the holley kits.

good luck with your project...you mention the carbs are old...the early (69 1/2) carbs had throttle shafts in the secondarys which were a little sticky, didn't always open smoothly...the newer carbs had teflon coated throttle shafts, which corrected the problem...you can identify the newer ones because they appear to be painted green...it's teflon, and they work very smoothly...just a little extra info.

I think the promax plates do not have an outlet for the Vacuum Advance.

Chryco Psycho

the vacuum advance connects to the metering block , the outboards connect to the other port beside the metering block on the main body

what i have is a pieced together system. the two outer cards are 71's. the center is a '69. the intake is an aluminum 69 intake.  its a one piece at a time sort of thing. if  it works , it works. it don't it don't.
i have everything but the factory style coil bracket, and the idle soloinoid. looks like an old ford a\c idle kicker solonoid to me. at the cost of a factory piece, that might be something i'll try.
i was trying to figure out a way to do a low budget idle mixture screw adjustment system.  one so you dont have to take the back carb off for idle screw adjustment. might look pretty gay but if it works, what the hell. i know they make base plates for that, and if i could aford it i would get those, but for now, i just want to finish the rest of the car so i can safley drive it.
