Some Pics of my Junkers

Well, I finally have everything under one roof.      The Aero Merc was the last car to come home last fall.   I've never had all three cars in one place for a photo, so here goes...



The Mercury has been stored in a couple of barns for the last 19 years.   Smells bad.  The metal is still good.   Car is original paint but needs a complete restoration.

My mom backed into the fender of the Merc in 1986, which is what took it off the road.  It needs everything, but still yard drives.    With the old gas in it, it was a victory to get it running and limp onto the trailer for the ride home.

Also need a Charger 500.   When my dad was alive, the goal was to have all five Aero cars.    We just never got there.   

If I had not built the garage and driveway, maybe I could have pulled off a decent Talladega.     Even if I could afford a 500 and Talladega today, I don't think I could keep up with them.   With two cars to restore, I've got all I can handle.

I love the mud flaps and trailer hitch on the Daytona.  It must have been a mid west car all its life, no?

I'm in the same boat on the garage. i can afford to build a new garage for my car or i can afford to work on my car, but not both.

The Daytona was bought new in Washington state.   The original owner had the custom paint done.  He owned it for ten years and then sold it to his cousin for full sticker.  The cousin had it about 6 months and sold it to my dad at about a $1000 loss.    We bought it in October 1979 for $3500.

They look pretty happy all lined up like that Doug.  Kind of like a starting lineup somewhere in 1970.
