repro sunvisors problem

Hi there!

I have a problem with my reproduction sunvisors: I bought them off eBay quite some time ago and finally came to install them. But the inner sides don't fit into the rearview-mirror-base.

I guess this picture shows it quite well:



The black ones are the repops, the white one is original. The small plastic piece goes onto the original metal-piece and fits into the mirror-base.

Now I finally forced the metal--rod-pieces out of the original sunvisors and thought I could get them into the repro-pieces now. But I simply don't get the non-fitting rods out of the repro-sunvisors!

Any suggestions? I pulled so hard that the vinyl began to rip apart...

Lock a pair of vise grip's on it and twist it around a few times,then start pulling on it as you twist it.
