If you had this car, what would you do with it?

This is the car, it is a 65 coronet 440 6 pass wagon. Right now it has a poly 318 with a auto. There is a little rust in the 1/4s and it is missing its roof rack. I don't know why, but this car just looks cool. If it was yours. What would you do with it?

Daytona R/T SE

I think I'd rebuild the poly 318, find one of those late 50's dual four barrel intakes for it, add a nice sounding exhaust sytem, put on one of the Super Stock drag car syle hood scoops, add A/C if it doesn't already have it, slap on a set of body colored 15" steelies with dog dishes, or some vintage aluminum slots, go through the body work and paint-and cruise the wheels off of it.

This is the type of scoop I was talking about:

Whats $50 going to get for a charger these days?  lol.
I was thinking of doing a LA style 318 with twirl port heads and a roller cam with a edelbrock carb and intake for ease of getting parts, plus it does not hurt that I have that engine sitting on a engine stand allready that has never been started. I also have everything to put rear disks but nothing for the front yet. So four wheel disks with some vintage American racing chrome wheels. I also have them. Just trying to decide if the car is worth it. I think if it was done right it would be funner to drive than a 2dr just because its different. I would also put the max wedge hood scoop and A/C. I was thinking a medium blue and silver exterior with a light blue interior with the windows all tinted at 40%. Of course it would have front and rear sway bars. SS springs. headers with a 3inch exhaust with flow masters. Hell, I'll even put cut outs just for fun. I bet I could do it for around $4k as I allready have the engine/trans(727). The wheels and a few other small parts. Plus we have a paint boothe and metal working tools.    :scratchchin: :scratchchin: :scratchchin:

I love the cruiser wagon idea!  I'll take the Galaxie too!

I think it would look great with some meats on the rear end cruisin' down the road.

I would have bought it, got it running but still looking like that :icon_smile_big: My wife would love to go to the supermarket in that :yesnod:
Looking for 383 Magnum #0B196875 and 0B115166

My idea would be... Depending on the rust issues with the body/frame.. If the rust issue is not bad, then use Cal-Track suspension in the rear, cage but keep the interior looking stock, Tube "K-Frame".. Drop in my Hemi engine and 727 transmission and get a brand new rear axel.. If allot of rust issues... Only keep the body, have a tubechassis made and set the body on top of that, 4-link and al balls to the wall with whistles and bells Pro Street...

I would contact our moderator Steve P. and have him explain just exactly how hard it is to find parts for one of those..

Is the headlight surround piece there somewhere?

This is what I did with an old 64 Plymouth wagon that was found sitting in a barn.

YUP, what Tom said.  That's what I was thinking except all the technical stuff.  Pro Street it!
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

One more pic here. This one is with a set of 15" magnum 500's, 275-60's on the rear. I just could not warn up to white letter tires on a early 60's car so that why I stuck with the Torque Thrust wheels and black wall tires as seen in the first picture.

I have met Steve P. Great guy. He bough a 65 coronet 2dr from my friend a few months back. We have 2 or 3 2drs sitting in his back yard.

As for the truck next to it.  There is allot of history with that truck. My Mom was riding in that truck when she went into labor with me.

On thing is for sure, I'd mod a remote gas filler cover from a Daytona to mask that hole and hideous cap on the quarter. That's too prominent of a location to just leave open like that.  The car is undeniably cool and has nearly unlimited potential as a cruiser, I will say that much!
