-new yukon SG unit smooth version
-new 3.55 ratio
-489 housing
-new bearings all around
-new seals.

in conclussion, new everything but axles, and housings

SUPPOSELLY adjusted properlly. Couldn't use the right substance to check the pinion and gear adjustment ( we wouldn't able to find locally )  but used grease to check marks... noticed just right at the middle

what could it be the sound ?

When does the noise happen? acceleration cruise or decel?  ...sounds like a possible gear alignment concern?

If the backlash isn't properly adjusted it will make those types of noises.  :yesnod:

Pull the center out and have it properly set up.  :Twocents:

mmmm... yeah thats' what I thought.

will need to be done later.

to save back slash mostly sure would need to mount a thicker shim on pinion right ? more than the side adjustment of carrier  :shruggy:

Natcho, the 489 housing uses the collapsable crush sleeve to set the pinion preload. If you replaced the stock crush sleeve with the solid spacer kit then it will need shims to adjust the backlash.  :yesnod:

Backlash is the interface between the pinion gear and the ring gear.  :scope:

I replaced for a new crush sleeve.

Shims with solid spacer should it be to adjust preload :scratchchin: . The thicker shim I'm thinking is the one located before the bigger bearing. that would make get deeper pinion in to the gear and save the backslash. the side bearing adjustment would make center or not the pinion on gear.

or at least thats what I think  :scratchchin:
