Why is it always listing for a friend.  I see that a ton on ebay.(mostly rhetorical)
What does "I have a set" mean in this instance?

Still though.... no reserve and it looks to be in decent shape.  Could be a bargain.
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

BROCK

A late production Sublime 70 SE is a rare car - even rarer with 4x4 & cutup front section - heck even rarer still:
This car was NOT mutilated down here in the South - it was mutilated by one of those people that frown on
Southern Enginuity.  I would NOT have done it like that Doc!  Down here, the 4x4 conversion is done to camaros
& vettes - see it all the time.   :eek2:
Somebody either restore that Charger or part it out!  Lets get this hideous variation out of our minds lest we
come to misery.

:iagree: The engine bay & missing front frame rails seem to be the worst parts of the car. If someone had deep enough pockets, that baby could come back to life. :)

Rob-Dirt...I wonder if that's Joe's brother/cousin/dad? :D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Troy

When I first saw that auction I noticed the 4-speed pedals but it's apparently not a 4-speed car. It is a sublime big block SE though.

Troy

Nope, that's me.  Sorry mods had to post it one more time.  Ok, I'll post it any opportunity I get. :icon_smile_big: :2thumbs:

They did give the 4x4 treatment to the GL in one of those DOH episodes if I recall. Anyone know the story behind that project?

What a waste. :rotz: I have a picture of a sublime '70 that I saw last summer..I'll dig it up.

I think they air'd up the air shocks and twisted the torsion bars up and put on some snow tires in those Dukes Episodes.

Mike DC

Yeah, there was one Dukes show in season#2 where the did a 4x4 job on the car at the end of the episode.  They were chasing some girls in Jeeps.

The actual conversions weren't really a 4x4 deal, they were mainly for looks.  It was just air shocks & cranked torsion bars to put the stock suspension up as high as it would go.  They swapped the wheels & tires for a bigger set.  It was 15x8.5" rims instead of 14x7" ones, and maybe 33s on the tires.

The interesting thing is that they had to cut the wheelwells out a bit wider at all four corners to make the tires fit.  (The biggest cut was at the front edge of the front fenders.)

Anyway, when the car supplier shop turned those Chargers back to stock after shooting that episode, they never re-fixed the sheetmetal back to stock.  You could see those radiused quarters & fenders occasionally showing up in later shows for like a year afterwards.

I am kind of wondering what he is getting at with the "I have a set" also. I guess he just wants everyone to know?

on a side note i think the "listing for a friend" thing is mainly so the owner of the car cannot be help resposible after someone has it ships and has a heart attack.. well it was my friend's car not mine..

sadly, i'd like to own that car in a secretive kind of way
i live in CHARGERLAND.. visitors welcome. 166 total, 7 still around

It is embarassing to look at now, but there was a period of around 2 years where my car was almost as extremely jacked up. I can't believe I thought it was cool. I am thankfull every day my car no longer looks like this.

Mike DC

Dang, Jim!  That front end is UP THERE.

That thing is already a sorta Valuzet-looking GL to begin with.  You've got the 15x8.5" rims too.  It's just about ready for the 33" mud tires and the cut fenders . . .

Steve P.

Years ago I did the ALL UP thing with an El'camingia. It was my bone yard go getter...  :shruggy:

Yeah, I had to do it or the tires would rub. The passenger side liked to do it when going backwards. The tread would grab that fender lip on the front and pull the whole corner up into the tire. My tire size choice was not good. It was a Sunday and only Pep Boys was open selling tires. They didn't have what I wanted so I went with the closest possible size in the brand I wanted and took these. BIG mistake.

Just about everything has changed since then. It now has 14x7's all around. It is quite a bit less Veluzat looking now as well as all of the graphics are different. I still need to fix my grille though.

Mike DC

Looks nice.  Looks pretty "Lee#2/3" like you've talked about before.

I'm just waiiting for your car to turn up with a missing signal light on the RF corner.

JimShine

Yeah, and the 68 grille with metal I piece stuck on it.

I went and took a risk and attempted handpainting the flag and roof text. I just finished the flag and am currently drawing out and cutting my masks for the text. The flag came out great so I am hopefull on the rest.

Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

I always thought an all-wheel-drive Charger would have been an awesome stunt car setup on "Dukes."  All those twisty gravel roads and cars on small tires . . . it was basically a WRC Rally situation but with heavier longer-wheelbase cars.  Driveline-powered independent suspensions at both ends of the chassis would definitely be the way to go.
