I know it may not be Charger related, but it is MOPAR.  I went to my grandmother's house today (where my '53 Desoto sits) because I just got a new windshield put on my Charger there.  I got ambitious and decided to see if her little 318 Wide Block in her '64 Dodge station wagon would start.  I am kind of familiar with this engine, because my Coronet has it.  I put the battery in and tripped the starter, to my surprise, the engine was free.  I start to get excited, and noticed that the positive end of the coil was broken out.  So I go get the one out of a Mirada that my uncle has there (We're pretty much strictly a MOPAR family).  I put it in and hot wired the car after adding gas.  I have never seen so much dirt fly out of an engine compartment when that thing started.  The fuel lines were unhooked so gas from the tank started spewing out of the lines hooked up to the fuel pump.  I was amazed that it actually started.  The car has been sitting for at least 2 decades.  Through the week i think i'm going to go over there and work on it.  I love being 17 and able to actually know what I'm doing with cars most of the time.  Sorry if this story was boring, but I was proud and thought I would share

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

old wagons are cool- get it running and go cruise!

yeah, you won't be able to go start a modern car after sitting for that long. Gives you a great feeling when an old mopar fires up.

Good deal...................nothing like bringing something back to life.! :yesnod:

I'd change the oil/filter though before running it again.

I think I might've pulled the plugs and shot a bit of oil in there before I started something that's been sittiing that long....

JZ,,,, Don't run that old crappy gas from the tankinto the carb. Pump it into some old gas cans or something.. The crap in the tank after 20 years can't be good and will not do the engine any good at all...

It's very cool that you got the old girl running... How is the body??? I have a buddy looking for a 64' wagon. He has a 64' Polara 500 rag top and a few other old mopars...

Grandma must have gotten a kick out of it firing up as well...........

The old Poly's are pretty tuff. But before you play with it any more, change the oil! I would also pull the plugs and dump in some Marvel Mystery oil to be on the safe side.

Not boring at all. Fun to bring to dead back to life. Hum, seems I having been doing the for last 25 years.

The car won't move any time soon.  It's sitting in a backyard with my '53 Desoto Hemi car.  I was just seeing if anything would happen.  I'm sure that car will run pretty strong.  My family just parked it because they got something better I'd imagine.  Theres just about enough room. My plans for this week may either be working on that, or finding parts for my Coronet because my Charger is giving me hell  :rotz:
