I've got a 426 Hemi block from a very early 68 Hemi car. VIN is 201381A8.   Send me a PM if you know of the car.  Thanks, Buzz

My '68 Hemi Charger R/T was a Feb 28th '68... Maybe that's not early enough... The VON is 105454
Troy
'69 Charger Daytona 440 auto 4.10 Dana ( now 426 HEMI )
'70 Superbird 426 Hemi auto: Lindsley Bonneville Salt Flat world record holder (220.2mph)
Houston Mopar Club Connection

This block was cast 10-3-66, but has a build date stamped of 12-16-67.  ALso nas MN42623360011 so that's the 11th motor that day on 12-20-67.  Must've been a very early production car?

If I'm reading the stamping correctly, the car that engine came out of either has a VON or VIN sequence number of 201381, and was built at the Lynch Road assembly plant.  That would exclude all Chargers for 1968, anyway.

My guess based on the engine assembly and machining dates is that the 201381 is the VIN sequence number (last six digits of the VIN).  I don't have an exact idea of where a Lynch Road car with that sequence number would fall, but I'd suspect it was somewhere in January or February of '68.  Lynch Road and St. Louis produced cars at about the same rate, and 201xxx should be a January-built car.  Just a guess though.

With the 1968 model year starting production in August of '67, I wouldn't necessarily call that an "early" '68.  Not horribly late, but not super early.
