I agree. What a sad loss.

Bandit72

thats too bad...i just saw him live last summer
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Sad to see him go at 71.

He certainly wasn't the best.

I saw this on the news this morning, it's going to be a real shitty day now. I've been a huge Carlin fan since the 70's & even got to see his live show about 6 times, & as recent as last fall.  My daughter liked the character Carlin did the voice for in Cars, "Fillmore" so when she's a little older I'll have to play a few Carlin albums for her.

Damn, this IS shitty news. I've been a HUGE fan of his for years now. Saw him multiple times live, even a show during a filming of one of his HBO specials.
I'll certainly miss his humor, he was truly unique.

I was welcomed with that news this morning when I awoke as well. :rotz:

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Which HBO show were you at? I was at The Paramount Theater in NYC when they broadcasted that one live. I had taken my Dad to see that show, & set the VCR to tape it that night. I had to threaten my wife not to touch the TV or the VCR while I was out.

Here's Carlin's website http://www.georgecarlin.com/

Damn I must be working to much, I did not even hear about it till I read this post..That sucks
Earth. Even the word sounded strange to me now... unfamiliar. How long had I been gone? How long had I been back? Did it matter? I tried to find the rhythm of the world where I used to live. I followed the current. I was silent, attentive, I made a conscious effort to smile, nod, stand, and perform the millions of gestures that constitute life on earth. I studied these gestures until they became reflexes again. But I was haunted by the idea that I remembered her wrong -Solaris

My first album of his was actually an 8-track, and was Class Clown. I was at a K-Mart in 1974 with my mom, saw that picture and had to have it. I was 8, so needless to say, mom was less-than-enthused to buy it for me, but relented after much pleading. Good thing we didn't listen to it in her new Dart on the way home. My older cousins who smoked those funny cigarettes  :shruggy: were already listening to him, and I had heard him, and even though I didn't get all the humor, it was funny enough for me...I have been a huge fan ever since...what a tremendous loss... :'(

George Carlin was one of a kind...Some of my favorite lines..."99.9% of everything that has ever lived on the Earth, is gone and guess what...Weeee didn't kill them allllll"..."Save the whales, save those snails, save the planet, are you F^#&*@ kidding me".
"Let me explain something to you, um i am not Mr. Lebowski, you're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the dude, so that's what you call me. That or his dudeness, or duder, or you know, el duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing."
