I found an old third gen that was on its' roof out in the woods today.......there was no engine or tranny, but it had the 8.25 rear in it still, with the driveshaft attached.  Well, I spun the driveshaft and both axles turned the same way........I get all excited (keep in mind I do nothing with rear ends) ...  and start thinking, wow....they're turning the same, ....it's a sure grip....so i drive all the way home, thinking i've scored a new rear for my car, and came here to post and make sure that my thinking was right, and that would tell me it's a sure-grip.......well, i got half way through my post, before i realized that if the wheels didn't turn the same way when you turned the driveshaft your car would just go in hyper )$#@% mode........good thing i caught my mistake before i posted on here and made a fool of myself, eh??

(i did find a 67 440 and 8 3/4 rear though).......i've been looking for those closed chamber heads forever.

Sounds interesting, but am I the only one thinking that if you don't own the car (i.e. title in your name) and it isn't on your property then taking any parts off of it would be considered theft?   :shruggy:

What if it was your third gen in your woods behind your house and you found some random guy pulling the axle out of it?

I understand your concern, but you're assuming way too much........there are a bunch of old cars back in the woods all beat to heck.......I asked the farmer who owns the land if I could check them out, he says sure, if you can use anything take it.......it's all junk.  ---  so no, i'm not a thief.

A long-upside-down car might mean a solid frame.

Swapping another roof onto a solid frame sure beats rebuilding the entire frame underneath a solid roof.
