I'd like to buy a "third member" as it's called  8 3/4 center section 489 casing  suregrip w/3.91 or 3.55 for my 70 to swap out with the current 3.23 suregrip.

Where can I buy one that's new or very close to new/rebuilt so that it's ready for my mechanic to install and it will work flawlessly?

I'd appreciate your help.

Thanks,
Mat

Strange is too big for its own good anymore,  very bad experience  with them!

Why a 489? Got the idea that the largest stem is the strongest?
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

if you do use a 489 ,
get the kit to eliminate the crush sleeve,
ok a lot more work to set pinion and such, but eliminates a known weak point , and dont buy suregrip, i nick named this sureslip
tracklock or one of the aftermarket equivilents,
take you time and ask , guys on here will pipe in on what they have used,
my self 742 original traclock , steel clutches ,

Not sure why someone choose to buy a 489 :shruggy:
maybe the same reason one pays $500.00 more for an "HP" 440??
