Hi, My car overcharge the battery. I test with a instrument today and with little high rpm:s it charge 16 V :brickwall: on the battery. I have almost everything new in the electronic system in the car. Can it be the new voltage regulator (stock looking but electronic inside). Check the ground to, but it not seems to be the main problem. Have the repro negative battery cabel, when meassuring, it didn't show the best value (quite much resistence).

What to do - buy a new voltage regulator?

Thanks.

you know what is hard ? track a problem like that one without change everything untill catch it.

what about if you directly feed the alt brush bypassing regulator to know what you get ? ( AT IDDLE, don't rev up )

I had this exact same probem on my car once.  I upgraded to a higher output altenator and voltage regulator.  I was told I needed the regulator because of the higher output altenator.  Like you, I was pushing 16 volts while revving.

I had the altenator tested and it checked out fine.  Tried a different voltage regulator and had the same problem.  Put the original regulator back on (keeping the high output altenator) and have had no problems ever since.

For some reason, the new electronic regulators just wouldn't work on my car.  Maybe you have the same problem?  I would try putting your old regulator back on.

I run the blue mopar preformance constant output regulator before. Will try to run the sytem with that relay instead then. It puts out 13,5 V i think.... But I really like the black stock looking electronic regulator :'(

pretty much weird... :shruggy:

there are another kind of mechanical units with adjustable voltage output screw tough

Change to my old mopar performance blue regulator, havent meassured jet but reading the alt/amp meter gauge it's look like it's worked. It don't show max in higher rpm:s any longer.

Did some reading and found that some sellers on ebay have a warning about the stock looking voltage regulator with electronics intarnels: Max alternator 65A.

how much amps output is your alt ?

stock original alts barelly gets 50-60 amps rate... some even less... 45 amps

when you got 16 volts how much amps were you getting on gauge ? thats not necesarilly a direct relationship with volts

I did measure today. The gauge show about 10 to 15 to the positive charge and the test instrument shows at high rpms 13.4 V. I run the old mopar preformance blue regulator instead of the stock looking electronic (black and ign/fld) shitty regulator. With that it charge to the battery more than 16.5 V with som higher rpm.

What the problem with the electronic "OEM" regulators? Like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mopar-Correct-Restoration-Appearance-Voltage-Regulator_W0QQitemZ180256765275QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item180256765275&;
