Wow! sorry to here of your misfortune.  It's a shame you arent looking fot a place in Illinois.  I have had a 3 bedroom 3 bath, heated garage inground pool, all brick home, for sale since Thanksgiving for 164,900.  That would have your Morgage payment under $1500 a month.  I have yet to get an offer

You are in the driver's seat with the owner doing the bankruptcy dance.  Depending on the lease you have, Nevada statutes, the bankruptcy code and the mortgagee, you may have many more options than you think.  And these are likely options that you can take that end in a win, win with the property owner.  You might want to talk with the bankruptcy trustee, or check out tenant rights in the nolo press book, or talk with the owner's bankruptcy attorney.  Regardless, you have the money, you likely have a legal right to be in the house, you likely don't have to up and move on any certain schedule.
