Someone posted a photo of this car on the "If you could back in time" thread on the general board.

The car has recently been purchased by a new owner and has been torn down for a ground up re-restoration.   The shop in Slinger Wis that did the R6 Mr Norm Daytona restoration is doing the work.

Doug, what was all that wrong with it?  Didn't this thing just sell for around the $400,000 mark?

Exactly, why re-do it?

By most peoples standards, there was nothing wrong with it.   It would not have won any major awards, but was still very, very nice.   Just a case of the original and still pretty fresh restoration not measuring up to "modern" expectations.      It still had an original interior.   The fenders used on it did not have holes and screens in them.    The underbody was not detailed to a modern concours standard.     But if you walked by the car, you would drop your jaw at any notion of re-restoration.   It was that nice.   It will take some deep pockets to "take it to the next level".

Thanks for the link nascarxx29. I can see what you are describing Doug. So basically this is a very nice hemi-4spd that could almost be driven to some shows that is being taken "to the next level".  Hmmm, I kinda like the driving part!

More so, it was a trailer queen that was capable of being driven to shows.  Way too nice for just a driver.   Figure that the resto was started over ten years ago, and finished within the last couple years.    If it was my car, I would have been plenty pleased the way it was.

some people are way more of a perfectionist then I. I would have loved it the way it was .   :drool5:

Hmmmm, so what all needed redone?  :shruggy: Car looks pretty darn good to me. Although haven't had the chance to look it over in person that closely. Looks very good in pictures though. I guess if you gonna have a HEMI Daytona and restore it why not go to the "next" level and do it all OEM correct right? I am with FJMG though I like the aspect of driving these cars.

I got a copy of its buildsheet and seen the car before. When its restored will it be matching numbers.Though it didnt start off like that

I've always heard the rule of thumb is after 90 points, it costs $10k extra/point... I'm also of the opinion that the guy should enjoy it as is and look at doing this type of resto 10 yrs down the road...

Although i have succumbed to keeping my car the original color, i would think one Dark Bronze car in the garage would be enough for me.   :Twocents:

Dont get me wrong, my car will stay T7, and i will still have the delight of my spouse telling me it looks like a big brown turd floating down the road!  :brickwall:
I was thinking about a good name for my car since Turd Car just doesnt have the ring to it that Dana does.  But if i shorten it to just T.C. then maybe i can paint it up to look like TC's chopper on Magnum PI.  :coolgleamA:

The last photo I saw (not online), it was stripped to the bones and looked like it was getting a trunk floor.   The rear tail panel was off.

Not that it has any bearing on the discussion at hand, but the pilot that owned and flew that chopper on Magnum, P.I.  crashed that particular helicopter during some contracting work.  I don't remember what the assignment was but the crash was on Destroyed in Seconds.
