Did Bill Weiman own that car once? I saw one just like at at his house a few years ago. The car needed a proper resto - It had been done by a rebuilder - not a restorer. It's a Hemi Daytona - The original doomsday machine - It deserves a proper restoration.

It is the car that passed though Weiman's hands, among others.  Frankly, that car was the perfect candidate to actually live the dream of a Hemi Daytona and do some touring events with.     Get some use and enjoyment from it, and then bring it up to todays standard if you wish.

Yes there are some things that were not at today's levels.  But my gosh, the car was just completed in 2005.   Understanding the whole story of the car,  I actually thought it was very nice as completed.     Much of the work including the paint was done well over a decade ago, although the reassembly was not finished until 2005.    The car was owned by a Chrysler parts manager for about 25 years, and was done without a blank check, and to the standard that was accepted at the time he started the project.    I had a hard time believing someone would want to pull it apart after it just got finished.     It still had its original white interior.

The cost to go back and make it, ahem, "right",  will be through the roof.    All I know is that if my Daytona looked that good, I'd be happy.    Personally, I think it was a shame to tear it back down.

I would have driven it around for a year or three as well, accumulated the parts (and the $$$) and gone at it. I never start a resto without having all the hard to find stuff in hand. I drive all my stuff - restored or survivor. It is what it is in any condition - A Hemi Daytona. I meant no offence to the fellow that had the work done.

Saw that car at the Mopar nationals a few years back. Was pretty darn nice to look at. If it was mine I'd have driven the wheels off of it. Not perfect, but ideal for just cruising.

there is a clone for sell on ebay that is in canada for $59k. it appears to me that it would be cheaper to buy rather than to build. i,m in the process in cloning a bird, will send some pics as soon as i figure out how. got parts for sell.

No.  This one is T5.   Tim owns the T7 car Kevin Greene owned and before that Otis Chandler.
