so i only have enough $$$ for one this summer, ether restore the 74 ( not professionally done, but get it decent and driveable ) or spend a couple of months in spain with some friends and put the charger in storage? :scratchchin:
i figured i would ask here seeing as how you guys are probably the only ones who TRULY understand the love for these beautiful machines  ....any suggestions? :shruggy:

honetly i would go for Spain with friends...     how many times do you get to spend time with friend...     I've last a few in Iraq and I regret spending soo much time working on my Charger...      charger's here still...     friends aren't...          :-\

I'm with Rolling Thunder.  The older you get, the harder it can be to travel when you balance it against kids and mortgage.  The Charger will still be there when you get back waiting to be a diversion from the kids and mortgage later on.

If you have no vision or creative spirit, you can always fall back on the way the factory did it.

Spain is an awesome place to be!  Went there a few times while in the service. Matter of fact 2 of my tattoos came from Lucio's in Rota.

To tell you the truth though, my mindset has changed and i'd use the money on the car.  Probably cause I'm just grizzled and worn out .  Have fun in Spain. :Twocents:

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

dodgecharger-fan

Yeah, I'd say Spain and I'm not much for travelling. However, a couple of months is a different thing all together.

If there's no risk of the Charger not being there when you get back and if going to Spain is only gong to delay your plans for it, go to Spain....

and send us lots of pics.  :icon_smile_big:

Old Moparz

We already sent one member packing & on his way to Hawaii, so what the heck, go to Spain or you'll regret it. The car will still be there for you in storage, but the chance to go on a trip with a friend for the summer may not ever come up again. Things change, people get busy, family, jobs, & life just get in the way as you get older. Besides, who knows what will happen with the cost of oil rising & the airline industry in panic mode because of jet fuel prices? Half of the airlines may not be in business a year from now.

I don't even speak Spanish & I'd probably go. Maybe I can get Ponch to go along & translate.

Let me get this straight... You want to spend money on your Charger or go here?

I lived in Spain for a little over a year when I was 11 yrs old in 1971.  I don't have a Mopar that could replace the experience.  Use the opportunity to travel as times may change and it won't be available again.  You can always make ways to get some extra $$ when you get back to fix it up as it will be waiting on ya.

when i last went to Europe in '89 i went to greece & all around the greeks isles to turkey and then to england & all around the island up to scotland and back to london for a month,.. a fantastic trip, but i so was deep into fixing up my charger then it was at the prepaint stage and i had a buncha parts i had collected and were waiting to go on...
anyhow the entire time i was traveling all i could think about was my charger back home and i dreamed about driving it over in europe not so much in greece cause the traffic there SUCKS! but in scotland and england, oh yeah, especially scotland cause the roads are so increadably beautiful and uncrowded...
still the idea fantasy of driving the R/T over there stuck with me for many many years,...

I wouldn't trade that trip for staying home and working on the car, no way.  :rotz:

451-74Charger

Me, id fix up the Charger...
Being from Europe, i dont see the appeal.
However, your car will still be here, (unless you tell me where you store it..lol)
Go to Spain, enjoy the 9 hour flight and the hot sticky beaches covered in scantilly clad young maidens.
Me, im too old, ill just sit and rust with my car

Kevin68N71

Well, sanding on an old Charger or going to Spain, probably go to Spain.

BUT, if you said DRIVING the Charger, that's a different story.  Out here, I can drive mine, go to great beaches, up to the mountains, and everything in between.  I don't need to go out of the country for great food, nice beaches, and great driving views!
Do I have the last, operational Popcar Spacemobile?

mikesbbody

im surprised with all the spain votes id go for the charger  :Twocents: once your holiday is over its over sure, you have memories and pics but its over.
The charger will be there for years to come i should point out though i have done my fair share of travelling but even in your position, id choose the charger.

Troy

You have all of your life to build a Charger (and you should have even more money/skills later on to do a better job). Some of us have spent over 5 years working on our cars and still can't drive them so what's a few extra months? I wouldn't trade in any trip that I've ever taken just to work on a car. I love to drive my cars - and I do at every opportunity - but getting out to see the world is a great experience as well.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Brock, I'm not at Spain... YET!!! Still in Venezuela

Ok guys, I wanted to keep this like a surprise although some members already know, but I think is a propper moment to talk about since is a good comparision point:

I'm going to Carlisle, spending around $1200 average ( it could be more ) just for air ticket and road trip, and then what I will spend there. I could spend that money in my car and some other stuff here. Yes, but I'm going to Carlisle and going across USA from coast to coast. That is an experience that maybe I'll never will be able to have again ( just destiny will tell ).

In your place I would say SPAIN ( plus Spain is one of the best countries in the world!!!!!! )

i live in houston texas (if anyone knows were that is) so its just a over sea filght. mostly everyone is leaning towards spain, but ive been dreaming of driving this car for a LOOOOONNNNNNGGGG time. ive had it for three months and i spent ever penny and every spare second i had on that charger. ive been wanting one since i was nine, so now i have alittle more than 5k (graduation gift) and i could get it in pretty good shape and be driveing it by halloween ( which is great seeing as how the car hasent ran since before i was borne) BUT spain IS going to be killer AND heard drinking age is 18 :D . I just dont want to be 100 and still not finished with it ( no offence to anyone) i have plans (318 to 440 swap...etc) but thats in the future  right now i just wanna drive around my bad little 318 ( with gas prices a 318 aint so bad) and have a blast with it. one in a family of ford :icon_smile_blackeye:......MOPAR OR NO CAR!!! :RantExplode:

Spain - without a doubt.

The memories and the stories you'll be able to share will last you a lifetime.

Just today I was telling one of my Wife's friends of my adventures in Rome and Athens when we were on a high school trip and she couldn't stop laughing.  The memories rushed back and it was like I was 16 all over again.

Go to Spain. I went to Italy and Sicily two years ago with a group of people from school it was the best trip I have gone on so far. That and you may never get a chance like this again, thats why I am moving to Hawaii for a year because I know the Charger will be there when I get back but this is my only chance to move to Hawaii.

I still dunno the complete route guys!
