Has anybody purchased the fake "vintage" battery covers such as those sold by The Paddock for group 24 batteries.

I need a new battery and am considering purchasing one that these covers would work on.

Any other vendors out there selling them?          :shruggy:

I installed one on a car and it wasn't bad. You really need to shop around to get a battery with a body that fits and makes it look 'right'.

I have one and my battery does not fit the cover right. I have yet to find anyone on the face of the earth who could give me the manufacturer and part number of a battery that would work.

I decided to just get a group 27 battery (12 inches long) like the cars came with. It is a mopar one from a local Dodge dealer.

It fit right in and has 770 cold cranking amps. Its black, its boxy so escept for the caps it kind of looks right.

It is not maintenance free

The battery I used was actually some cheap o brand. I bought it at a local garage in Maine for my Charger not intending to use it with a cover. It had a handle on it and I had to remove it. It was along the same lines as the batteries you see in Wal Marts, Autozones, and the like.

This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

I can't stand those. Who are you trying to fool with those on (not you personally) ? If you take your car to a show, those in the know can spot them at a glance. The maintentance free repros have just as mush cranking power as a moderate DieHard. On of the first things I have put in my cars is a repro vintage battery. It amazes me when a car goes to auction and I see those. It makes me think of all the other corners that have been cut.

for me, it's a nice touch when I open up the hood at a cruise night. I even had my new mopar buddy around the block ask me where i got my repro battery.  so it will fool someone who's not looking to nik pik.  I just can't justify the  money they are asking for repro batteries.  I know it's not a ton of money, but for me, still too much.

I would still love to know the exact manufacturer of a battery that will fit the cover i have perfectly...
