Hey guys, I'm a newb with a first post and was wondering if you could help me out.

I have a 68 Charger with a 383 4bbl magnum, AT on the column with a bad dieseling. I realize that there may be a couple reasons why
it's doing this but i thought maybe since i had the carb. rebuilt it would have changed the timing a little bit. So, being the newb that i
am, what do i have to do to check the timing?

try to idle it down a little bit, should help.
also you can turn the car off in gear, then put it in park.

dieseling can have several sources...1) your 383-4 probably requires better than regular gasoline...try using premium and see if that elimiinates the problem...2)if timing is too advanced, engine may diesel...3) has there been any headwork that would raise the compression? any milling of heads or block? pistons been changed? these things would cause dieseling if you are using too low octane, or have timing too advanced...or, if heads have never been removed, they may have built up carbon that raises compression...4) some 1968 setups had a solenoid that kept the idle up too fast..make sure idle speed is down where it's called for...
