Oil Gauge weirdness

I am finishing the restoration on a 69 charger 500, and after getting most of it put back together and starting the newly rebuilt 440 it was showing no oil pressure:( I immediately shut it down and attached a mechanical gauge which is thankfully showing good pressure. I pulled the voltage limiter (brand new from YO and tested it with the center terminal to 12 volts, the ground to ground and with a test light was getting nothing so I pulled a donor limiter off of cluster and tested it in the same way and was getting a pulsing light so I used that one. When I was double checking the YO limiter I held the test light to the output longer and got the pulsing but it was nearly 5 seconds between thee pulses with the original 40 year old unit it was about 1 second. I pulled the cluster out and checked the gauge with a 9 volt battery and it didn't move at all so I replaced the gauge with one out of a parts cluster which did show movement. I then started the car and looked at the gauge and the oil pressure seemed to drop to zero (from where I'm not sure, it was just heading south) So I shut engine off when I turn the key to the on position the gauge slowly goes to maximum pressure?! I turned the key off to avoid frying the gauge and it goes back to zero?! Any ideas on this? I'm getting a bit frustrated and am thinking of putting velcro on the dash to be able to remove it more quickly!! JK Thanks for any and all info someone can give me!!

See what the gauge does with the sending unit disconnected when you turn the key on.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

I have purchased the electronic voltage limiter from RTE. I have not yet had a chance to install it to give you some feedback. Hopefully I can get it in this weekend.

I disconnected the sending unit and took an ohm meter and measured between connector and ground and it was a dead short, I got to looking at the sender and went and looked at my other chargers and they had a big cylinder not just a switch so apparently the guy who owns this car got a sending unit for a idiot light car. I got the new sender and SHAZZAM it now works, thanks for all your help!! Peace
