"Looks like late night television's most famous car nut is the latest person to fall under the spell of the new Dodge Challenger SRT-8. Autoblog friend Delbert Shoopman says he was walking around the NBC lot in Burbank and happened upon one black Challenger parked directly across from the Tonight Show studio. Further snooping revealed a Jay Leno parking tag on the spot. We snooped a bit ourselves and found a blurb on Chrysler's internal blog, Firehouse, where they talk about Jay's latest acquisition.

Seems Jay picked it up yesterday at Valley Dodge in Van Nuys. It will join his 1970 Challenger among the hundreds of other cars in Leno's Garage when he isn't driving it around the Valley or stopping off at local car meets. We'll keep an eye out for him at Bob's Big Boy and VCR to see what he thinks of his latest toy. We're guessing he will get quite a kick out of it, with its 425-hp Hemi V8 and retro-mod good looks. Drive it in good health, Jay".

Comedian Jay Leno Adds Dodge Challenger SRT8 to Garage

Category: Dodge

"No need to Jaywalk: Comedian Jay Leno has a new set of wheels. The host of The Tonight Show took delivery on Monday of his new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8.

Leno's black Challenger SRT8 will share garage space with his 1970 Challenger (shown below). The late night comedian took delivery at Valley Dodge in Van Nuys, Ca. Car carriers are delivering the 2008 models to dealerships across the country.

Mike Accavitti, Director – Dodge Brand, SRT and Motorsports Global Marketing, was there to give Leno the keys to his new muscle car. (That's Mike below on the right.)

Leno's love of cars is well known. He's known as an avid collector and restorer, and he also writes columns about exotic cars. When he's not sitting on the host chair on the Late Show set, he can be seen taking joyrides in the San Fernando Valley. Leno sometimes stops at the Burbank Bob's Big Boy restaurant on Friday evenings to talk with the classic/exotic car owners that meet there weekly to display their automobiles".

It must be good to be Jay Leno.  :yesnod:
:iagree: However, trying to actually get out & mingle with fellow car enthusiasts is probably a pain in the butt for him. It's not like he would blend in very well.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

In all the programs I have see with Jay in them, including "My Collector Car", he is not only a nice guy, but he is knowledgeable. And he is not a no-it-all, or "look what I have" kind of personality.  He just loves cars.

He has tons of stuff he and his staff restore that might not see the light of day...big steam engines, ancient electric cars, all sorts of rare stuff that you have to fabricate items to make them work again.  He is constantly saving things from the junk heap and making them work.

He's a real asset to the hobby, and my guess is long after he hangs up from the Tonight show, he will be active and well remembered in this area.

Do I have the last, operational Popcar Spacemobile?

:scratchchin: he sure seems like a nice enough guy and yes a real enthusiast but i can't understand a talk show host making so much bread...

Same as sports figures making so much dollars.  If the advertisers will pay because the people will watch, they'll write you a big contract.  Good for him.

Now rap "artists"?  Well, that's another story!

I have a couple DVD's of him showing & driving some of his stuff. Everything from a steam powered car, to the Blastolene, to a jet powered motorcycle. The guy just plain loves vehicles & it definitely shows. :yesnod:
