ChargerST

hey guys!

Here's my story:
When I was 18 I was on vacation in the US (right after I graduated from highschool). Being a young kid interested in muscle cars I bought a 68 Charger (red/black 318 with little rust) in Washington state. Unfortunately I had to sell the car due to financial reasons before I was able to get it shipped to Europe (I live in Austria). I knew it was a mistake to sell the Charger but there was no way I could afford the restoration. A few years later I tried to get my hands on another Charger but being from Europe makes it really hard to get a decent deal - the few Chargers in Europe were usually way out of my price range..and finding a car in the US isn't that easy either as the good deals aren't on the internet or gone in a few days.

That's on of the reasons why I started posting the craigslist ads in the classifieds section - to help board members to find their dream Charger. A few weeks back there was a thread about the CL posting and a few members mentioned that it makes finding a deal harder (too much competition etc.). My suggestion was that you guys could PM me and I won't post the ad - I totally understand why some people were complaining - I wouldn't post a deal I'm interesting in myself...

...and yes, there were a few ads I didn't post. One of the was an ad I found on Tulsa craigslist. I just said: 1970 Dodge Charger RT, restored, price: $$$, contact info
Well, after a few e-mails I was convinced that this is the deal I was hoping to find for such a long time. I booked a flight from Austria to Tulsa and then..I became a Charger owner again! :)
The seller was an awesome guy - he kept his word and held onto the car until I arrived.

I then drove the Charger from Tulsa to NYC in 2 days - no radio, just a screaming 440 all the way  :2thumbs: I took almost 6 weeks till I could pick her up at the port (customs took almost 2 weeks). After a 1500 mile drive (750 one way) to and from the port I finally have a Charger again!

I know you guys like pictures so here we go: Ladies and Gentlemen - the mean green machine!

Nope, the pictures were taken in front of my house in Graz, Austria.

There are not too many second generation Chargers around here..there are maybe 10 in Austria (I know of 5 other Chargers).

Great looking Charger... Now, you're ready for the Moparfest in Germany when it comes around again...... I know there are plenty of Mopars in Europe (relatively speaking of course)...

oh man, you've inspired me. I too have wanted one since High School...now 30 years later after a divorce I'm looking to get one. I've been sniveling and whining about having to go out of state to find one :brickwall:, and you flew over from Europe . That's it....my search is now expanding, and what an adventure to drive it for two days burning up the highway :2thumbs:. It's supposed to be fun anyway!

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."
