70 Charger - any initial impressions?

Rust. You should go look at it before making a decision. An original 4-speed car is pricier that an auto, but lots more fun! Call him up and see what he will take to end the auction. Go look at it (or have a member here go look). If you want detailed instructions on what to look at, send me a pm and I'll forward a pdf file on what to do. If the car matches his description it is at least a $25 to $30K car. Good luck!

Looks for trunk rust and frame rail rust. Make sure where the leaf springs mount are solid.

Looks ok from pics but that means absolutely nothing, like others have said check for rust in the obvious areas, also look for any mechanical issues like you would with any other car, knocking, tapping, whining etc, look for any leaks where the car was parked also

I wouldn't go as high as 30k.  It's not number matching, not an R/T, No air, PW.  A 383 car with a 440 doesn't do much for me.  But thats me.

It is a real 4 speed, FY1 500 SE 383-4BBL.....That said I wouldn't go over 25k....and only if you want a driver. That car needs a fair amount of work to even resemble correct.

That first choice from Julius I would assume to be pretty solid & rust free being a original N95 California car probably spending it's whole life in California, at least by Rust Bucket Michigan standards. LEON.

thanks everyone...I'm learning allot...I've searched ad naseum...my challenge is that my 70 Charger must be pistol grip, so I'm going to have to be real patient or eventually settle on something...I just want a clean nice driver, doesn't have to be #'s matching show car, which I couldn't afford anyway...I'm looking in the $30 - $35K range

Maybe so, but I'd trust him over a lot of the other Joes out there trying to pass off some "internet restoration".  He has a reputation (not so good with some folks) to uphold and I'd have no problems buying from him if he only did minor work and it's an original California car.

why do you say that?

Based on what I've seen with the other 70 Chargers sold/bid up to, that is my expectation that it won't go for more than 33k. It is a nice driver but it isn't restored correctly. 33k for a 70 500 is darn good (from a sellers view).
