Hey Guys:

I'm thinking of upgrading my Rear tires (275 60 15)  28" tall to a set of BFG  Drag T/A's  (295 65 15) These are 29.6" tall.
I've presently got about 1" from the front of the rear tire to the wheel opening at the rocker,If I bump the rear end back about 3/4" of an inch I should still have an 1" clearance.

Do I have enough spline length at the tranny to soak up 3/4"

Any sugestions.

I'm Running a 3.91 rear end thats why I'm looking for a taller tire.
Anyone else using the BFG Drag T/A's ?

Ron

I had a set of the BFG Drag Radials. Not because my car needed them, but because I thought they looked cool. They hooked up very well, but the tread life was very short, and they were so sticky they used to pick up things from the road, and throw it in my wheelwell. That got to be real old.

I'm thinking about jumping up to a 28 or 29 inch tire now that i went with a 3.73. I was gonna get a set a MT et's for the track only and then a street set for cruisin' like bfg's or something. Looks like there is plenty clearance on a 3rd gen for a 28-29 incher.

I'd maybe check that spline length issue first, you might not be leaving enough in there.

:iagree:  Ideally you should have 1in of travel before the yoke bottoms out in the tailhousing with the car sitting level and the suspension loaded.

Ron, i have a set of the 295 BFG's going on the 68 with 15x8 Weld Prostars and SS springs out back. That is a big tire and fills up the wheelwell just perfectly....inmo.
