Hard Top vs Vinyl top - 70 Chargers

I think it depends on the colour combination. I prefer no vinyl roof but in some combos the vinyl looks better. From a rarity aspect having no vinyl roof is rarer. Doubt it affects $$ though.

   My first mopar at age 16 was a 70 charger r/t  top banana with black vinyl top and blk bumble bee stripe.  Great looking car with i still had it .

I prefer most colors without a v/t ....but some colors DO look better with one . Its really up to you.

There was one just like that kicking around my home town when I was a kid...1980.
It had 15" Ford Magnum 500 wheels on it too, the first Charger I ever saw with them on.
And MAN! Did it look good!!
Saw it for sale in the auto trader a couple of times after that...for $3500. 
It was referred to as "the General Lees' younger brother".

And me with no money honey.

I would pay more to have an original hardtop.  Again, personal preference. 

I don't think value goes one way or the other. 

You can sift thru this thread and try to find hardtops vs. vinyl tops.

I personally like Hardtops better than Vinyl. Vinyl tends to hide/hybernate rust. So usually buying a car for sale today with a vinyl top I always wonder "whast it like under the top" cause you cant see what may be hidden.

Personal preference. I like it with certain colors, i have a triple black charger and it looks like a muscle car in a tuxedo, powerful but classy.

I like a vinyl top with darker colored cars, but painted top with high impact colors.

I had a bright blue 68 with a white vinyl, was never overkeen on the combo, would have got rid of the vinyl if I kept it, I think vinyl only works if it's dark on dark imho

I would much rather have a hardtop than vinyl. And I have a vinyl now, but my wife likes it or it would go.

I think they look great too. I just think they look better on darker colored cars.

Yeah I saw in a previous post that they are reproducing it. Years ago and I mean like 15 years I called to inquire about Gator material and at that time they had enough NOS material for 2 cars and the price  was $900. If I had to I would pony up the $1300 but not without seeing it in person first. I was and still am VERY disappointed in their "so called" SALT & PEPPER inserts for their 1970 seat covers.
