hey guys,
My charger is still a work in progress but I finally got it painted and running.  Project funds are low to redo the interior now, so I wanted to just bolt the old bucket seats in so i could at least enjoy the car over this summer and then do the interior over the winter.  However, as I went to bolt up the drivers side seat and on one of the tracks the bolts are completely corroded and one the nut and old spacer are on so I cant even set it in the car.  I dont have the equipment to get them out, does anyone in the Seattle area have a grinder and a welder & would be willing to help take em out and put some new carriage bolts in???

thanks!

Too bad you're not down here a little closer.  My neighbor just gave me a like new wire feed and my bead blaster is up and running.  I have a couple grinders' as well.  My problem is I haven't welded since high school and would most likely bubble gum it all up for you.

But here's a bump for ya' anyways.

If you answered your PM's I have some factory looking studs, and you don't need a welder to get the old ones
out, they can be rocked back and fourth, and will fall out when they are that rusty.

But what do I know   :shruggy:

Hey Dan:

I've tried every conventional way to get them out (rocking them back and forth & wacking them w/ a mallet) & no luck.  They are probably to corroded in.  I did some searching on the boards and found a thread about replacing the studs so I am just going off that.  I'm heading up north now, check your PMs...

Put a deep-well socket under the head and give the threaded end a good, solid WHUMP! with a hammer.

Also, any of the various surf-revival compilation albums this band has contributed to.
