Was the 727 the standard transmission that came with the 68? How can you tell what transmission your car has?

727 was the only automatic behind the big blocks.  There was a 727 for smallblocks but it was a 340 piece, 318's got the 904.

totally matters on the powerplant, if it was a sb or /6, it should only have a 904 as the 340 was not an option; all bb's came with 727's in any year.
