Advice needed for trim rings on rally wheels....please

G'day guys,

Look like getting some Rally wheels for my 71 shortly, and have a question about the trim rings.

I want to get the polished ones, but would like to try and keep the price down. I'm here in Australia with not too many other cars around, so I'm not after "dead set" original. I've seen 15 x 7 trim rings advertsied in sets on Ebay, but they are advertised as being slightly different in look to the originals - something about a raised edge or something like that.

Firstly, has anyone tried non-original style trim rings on their car and do they look good ?
Secondly, is there a problem with the gap between the rear of the rings and where they sit against the wheel.

Finally.........for 18 x 8 inch rims, do you simply use a 15 x 7 trim ring.

Thant's about it. I want the wheels to look good, but I'm not that fussed that it might not have casting numbers and stuff like that. It's costing me enough for the rims as it is. If you can recommend a supplier as weell, that'd be great too.

You can find Corvette trim rings cheaper than the Mopar ones and they fit. As for putting 15" trim rings on a 18" wheel, I don't know how they would stay on.

Sorry mate......meant 15 NOT 18.

I've seen those Corvette ones advertised on Ebay. Do they "sit" OK ? I just want something that will look good, and I wasn't sure if the Mopar ones have a nicer "fit", or if they're all pretty much the same with only minor differences for the purists.

The Vette rings were made for an 8" wide wheel. If you use the Mopar ones on an 8" wide wheel there is a gap on the inside. So that is why the Vette rings are used. I've heard these being used by a few people with no complaints. I haven't seen them myself, but I would give them a try if I had 8" wide Rally wheels.
