none of the gauges seemed to work right in my 69 and the cluster wasnt that nice to begin with so i bought some after market gauges and unfortunatley messed up opening cluster bezel so i cut a new pice of metal to go over entire bezel wood grained it and installed them but now no power at all i know the power wires from the amp meter has something to do witrh it  but now that i deleted all factory gauges where do i hook em up?

some say that you just connect the two wires together and tape them together is this just one way ? and if not  is it fool proof i dont need a fire
